Baggie Method Ladies...

I'm going to be giving the Baggie Method a go and just wanted to ask a question of those who have been doing it a while. Right now, I am trimming with every *other* touch-up, so that's 2 trims a year. I'd like to get down to just once a year. I'll going to be getting a trim next month and it would be great to not have to trim again until next January. So, my question is have you found that protecting your ends with the baggie has made it possible for you to not have to trim as often? I admit I'm a litle worried about going too long and then having to trim even more because I waited too long between trims. But, if my ends are being moisturized and protected with the baggie, then that should be no problem I guess? Of course, I'll keep a close eye on them and trim them on schedule if need be. But I'd like to hear how it has gone for you ladies that have done it for a while. TIA! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's exactly what using the baggie method does for your hair.

It is protected all the time so there no need for frequent trims.

By all means keep an eye on those ends and if you feel they need trimming do so!!

Good Luck, I think you will be pleased with the results!

You see results during the whole process. I did it for 6 months before and I didn't have one split end that I could see. You will retain all of your length during this process. No trimming is necessary while during the baggie technique. It is a wonderful way to preserve your ends and retain length.

I did the challenge for six months because I felt like everyone should be able to retain around 2-3 inches which is very noticeable progress IMO.

I agree with DSD. I could tell right away that my ends looked better. I've only been doing the baggie method since starting the bun challenge in Sept. I had a minor trim in Nov but that was because I wanted a blunt cut not because I had splits.

OKAY. I am still going to give it a try. I have done the Baggie for two nights and I noticed some short broken hexagon ends still! If I ever can combat this problem, I will be so happy!!!! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

exactly what is the baggie method i hear so much about it...I took my weave out and would like to let my hair rest for a while....and i would like to try this method...can someone explain to me..

I agree with DSD....but the only difference with me is I trimmed my ends before starting the baggie in June...and I haven't had to trim it since. I wanted to start with clean ends.

I also agree with DSD but since everybody's hair is different I found that I still had splits even though I baggy 99% of the time BUT it's NOT as split as it was when I didn't do the baggy. And it's not splitting as fast as before. Back then I had about 85% split and it would split again within the same month of trimming. *Granted I wore it down more often then and I used a lot of heat* Now it's about 5-10% and I see splits 3 or so months after trimming.
All in all it's a GREAT benefit to your hair to try this method.

I have a visual in my album. Take a peek!

The baggie method is a way to keep your ends protected while keeping them extra moisturized. This method prevents breakage and splitting and helps retain most if not all the length gained while doing it. HTH

I got some questions for ya sweetie if ya don't mind: I started doing the baggie on Monday and I have the technique down (not doing the phony pony but I do the bag and then a stocking and scrunchie over the bun and I'm ok with the look) but my questions are about how often you redo your bun? And is a part of the method to not comb you hair too much? I started this on Monday, then my bun would get loose in the morning and I was scuurrred to redo it and fall out my baggie challenge. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif Can I redo the bun in the morning and not negate the effects or do I need to just put the stuff in and leave it til I wash again. I know this sounds crazy but I need some clarification. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hi Calbear /images/graemlins/wave.gif

I've redone my bun in the morning when it's been loosened from sleeping. Re-doing it daily has been *fine* for my hair. Don't be scared, chica.

You can redo it as often as you like. You don't have to wait until wash day. I redo mine everyday. I add more oils and put the baggie on my bun again. I can't seem to get it to stay up longer than a day anyway since I am doing it without the aid of phonies.

You will not fall out of the challenge if you take your baggie off. The key is to keep your hair protected as much as you possibly can with the exception of wearing it out on a couple of special occasions. e.g. holidays and such!!

In the past when I would do it wet. I would take my hair down after I was in the house for the day. This was my drying out time. I didn't want my hair to turn to mush. I would then rewash my hair and put the baggie back on for bed and wear it all day until the afternoon.

I also comb my hair everyday but not too much. I use a wide tooth comb just to get the tangles out.

Good Luck to you.

Thanx DSD and Nyambura:

/images/graemlins/clap.gif OK I feel better now and willing to stay on track.
