Lurker here... I used some coconut oil that I did not realize had a small black spot(s) at the bottom, just in one spot. i assume it started going bad on me which is a first. I only used a dab to tame some flyaways . Should I be ok? I can't get around to washing my hair until tomorrow night. Thanks for the feedback

Could be debris from the coconut. There's always something floating in my organic coconut oil from Tropical Traditions. I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't either. If it was bad, the smell would be a dead giveaway.

Probably coconut husk that didn't get filtered out. You will know if it is bad, it will STINK. As long as the black spots don't start multiplying you should be okay.

Sorry, I'm just now replying. I've been fairly busy. Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep that in my mind with my new batch of coconut oil. I just threw that old batch out. Stuff too expensive to keep chucking out.

If you're really worried, use it as a conditioner, (30mins or overnight with plastic cap) and rinse off!
