Back from the salon!

I went to Nadirah's in West Philly (rec by Islandgirl). They did a nice job. They used Afirm relaxer and Keracare products. I allowed her to give me a good trim. So although I had 2.5" of new growth, I had her trim up about 1.5" in some places. My hair has been HORRIBLY uneven for the longest time. Its bouncy and soft. She based my scalp and then applied the relaxer to new growth only. They did blow dry (I know don't go hollering at me!). I talked to her about how I worked out alot and what I could do. She said either more frequent washing or rinsing was OK, just use a good leave in lie the one she used. I liked Keracare products before so its not a problem to use them.

They were a little slow, but the results were good. Plus EVERYONE getting their hair done around me had shoulder-lenght or longer hair.

I'm glad the touch up went well and she used very good products. Thanks for asking her opinion in how to deal with hair when you work out alot. Looks like frequent washing IS the only way

Great to hear...I'm glad you had a good experience..

I'm glad that you posted the info about working out and maintaining the hair..I've always wondered about that..

Hey Carrie

Congrats on the 2.5 inches of new growth. I'm also glad they weren't against frequent rinsing of the hair either. Sounds like you have found a good salon, that actually listens

I will definitely be going back! They were a little price for a wash and rollerset ($30), so I am not sure about in between visits, but I will certainly be letting them do my chemical processes.

Hi Carrie! This is very encouraging. Can you tell me what the vibe was like at the salon? Were they professional? Did they give you any sort of consultation? Did they welcome questions? What day of the week did you go?

Caress, It was pretty cool. Not "ghetto" in any fashion. I talked the Terra (my stylist) a little before she started. And I filled out a questionarre about what products I used. I talked to her alot during the process as well. It was worth the trip.
