Ok, so I am joining another challenge and buying more products. I have used Alma as well as the Vatika oil. I don't have a set regimen.

Can someone please create one. I am a twa 4A/B

Thanks,

Zeal

No forreal. I want to try this too. But, I can't even find a place where people a listing their regimens and what each product does exactly. I am trying my own investigative research via goggle, but it is coming up short. Wow.

I would suggest starting with a google of "Indian Hair Care" - that will most likely give you the best run down of the various herbs and oils, and how they can be used, and what to do with them.

Doing a search on Ayurvedic here, and reading ALL the threads that come up will also be a good guide.

Personally, I'm leary creating a regimen for someone else - your hair isn't my hair, so what works and doesn't work for me might be entirely different from yours - it's hard to just 'borrow' a regimen and assume it will work.

The AAA Challenge thread also has a lot of good information....

Good luck, ladies...

My best tip: reading and doing the research before going out and buying things - understand what you are using and why. That'll serve you much better in the long run than someone who has never seen, much less lived with, your hair telling you to do this and do that twice a week. Spending a couple of hours doing that, rather than waiting for someone else to give you a regimen will certainly save you money, and in the long run, will save your hair.

I agree...read and research....check out the AAA thread. There are plenty of ideas in there and you'll probably come up with an idea of what you want to do whether it be tea rinse, prepoo, bar, or whatever.

Hopefull you can find someone to give you a helping hand, because I have done 3+ days of research and it is still very confusing. In the end I feel it will just be an adventure. Honestly.

I went to the Indian store and just bought a couple things I've seen mentioned in some threads and I am going to try them out in different ways adn see what works best.

Google, Yahoo, MSN as of lately have not been my friend. They keep bringing up sites that don't explain much on how to use the products.

The packages themselves are no good, because they are in a language I can't understand.

Even the threads here on the boards are extremely long and never get to the meat of answering my questions.

One only has soo much time to spend researching..That bug of gotta get it gotta get it..eats up at ya. So I just ran out and picked up a couple things.

I like adventures.

Everything that I found that can possibly be helpful, I added it to my Journal. I just put it all there so that I can compare notes.

Maybe it can help you.

I just did that this Saturday. I bought a Shikakai bar and I've been using that for about a month. And this weekend I bought Vatika and Amla oil and Amla powder. I'm gonna try that out and see how I like it.

I was twice a week. The weekends is Dominican products/rollersetting time. And the middle of the week when I just keep it in a ponytail is when I'm experimenting with all this Ayurvedic stuff. I'm just trying at my own pace, seeing what I like and deciding from there.

I think a gradual, individualized change is best and better than just taking someone else's regimen that might not work for you.

Per Lakshmi S

For strong roots and moisture.

coconut milk soaks.. full coconut milk don't shake the can. just open it and drain off the clear liquid. leave it on for 30 mins. apply heat if u can or put on a plastic cap. rinse out well don't wash. leave hair to natually dry. wash with natural shampoo the next day.

for strong roots. use a natural shampoo. like a shikakai bar , meera gold hair powder, or jason's that u can get at the market. amla powder helps to strengthen roots, bhringraj powder, brahmi powder, are some of the powders that help with strong roots. Just remember when using powders the secret of rinsing is...
dunking/submerging ur whole head in water. just rinsing it out under the shower just doesnt' work. what i do is fill the tub up with water to top get in a shimmy down in the water until my head is in and swish my hair around. making sure i get the crown and the sides.

Mustard oil massages. it may tingle/burn and it does smell like Gulden's spicy brown mustard.

check your diet. take ur vitamins, eat fruits veggies and protiens.

Disclaimer - I am still fairly new to this myself. However, I have been keeping a daily journal of what I'm doing to my hair. Mainly I rinse on Tuesdays w/shikakai, amla & aritha & I do my wash (shikakai bar) & rinse w/same pwdrs minus the shikakai & DC on Saturdays. Here's the link to my journals: http://journals.fotki.com/lovinglance/. HTH...:yep:
