Ayurvedic Powders and Oils and your Dosha

arosieworld

Thanks 4 our nail *****!
Hi Ladies,
I have been looking up my Dosha so the Ayurvedic powders and oils I use will be more specified to my hair type. I already knew I was a Vata but to make sure there is a really quick quiz here. http://www.whatsyourdosha.com/quiz/quiz.html?

They ask for an email and a name so I gave them fake ones and they still gave me the answers. :shhh:

Now that I am sure that I am a Vata how can I find the oils and powders that match? I have looked everywhere and googled every word combination I can think of and I have found nothing!?! :wallbash:

On a side note can anyone answer my gylcerin question....:look:

I don't know exactly for your hair. (I'm studying auyrvedic herbalism) But I do know that Vata humors are usually very dry and slow moving. The powders people have put on their hair that I would recommend for a Vata person in general would be herbs that contain mucilages such as fenugreek, marshmallow root. Hibiscus is good too. Something that contains sesame oil is pacifying to vata because it is heavy. Believe it or not but Coconut is too cooling in nature, and should only be used in the summer for Vata.

As far as the glycerein I have never seen glycerin in a capsule. But glycerin is relatively cheap here. http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=962&at=0
If it is your first time ordering you can use this code REZ984 and get 5 dollars off of your order. And shipping is only four bucks!

I'm vata/pitta and the bolded is so accurate! I love methi (fenugreek), marshmallow root and hibiscus. I also use sesame oil in the colder months and save the coconut for the summer. I just did it on instinct, I didn't realize it was connected to my dosha. Cool :).

Do you mean ayurvedic formulations or individual herbs? Have you tried your local Indian/Pakistani grocers? And many wholehealth stores carry ayurveda. Is Triphala one of them? I got mine from the local healthfood store.

Yes I want to try the powders and alma but I'm not sure which ones to use. I have a local store that carries them.

I've taken other tests before. I am consistently vata-pitta.

Do you mean that you want to find out about which oils and herbs/powders are best for your Dosha? There is a good book by Vasant Lad. Get his books from the library first to see if you like them and find them to be helpful,. If you like them, buy it/them from amazon. I have one of his books that i like to keep by my bedside.

One test says I'm vatta pitta, then another says I'm vatta kapha. Which one is correct? Who knows?

I took 5 different online quizzes and got 5 different results. I was really dissapointed, so I just left it alone. It's not the only way to grow hair.
