Ayurvedic paste vs tea rinse...

To make my rinse/tea, I just put some shikakai powder in my muslin herb bag (muslin baggie with a draw string - 15 cents each from the bulk herb and/or supplement stores) and stick it in my crock pot with some filtered water and let it infuse for two or three hours. I also make a big jug of it at one time. When I am done, the powder has turned to gel in the baggie and I scoop it out and add to some conditioner for a co-wash.

Adw425...I really like your idea about adding the powders to your conditioner...this way you get a nice consistency that won't be soo drippy like the tea but not as thick and hard to rinse out like the paste...I need to try this!

I noticed that you make both the tea & the co-wash, so I was wondering though, how often do you use the tea and how often do you do the co-wash? Do you DC at all after the tea rinse or the co-wash?

Thanks Ms.Joi, I'll try that. I was thinking that I might have had to DC on dry hair but this might work as well.

No problem. I love to DC on dry hair too. I am trying to get my regimine together now that I have started using the powders and oils.

I was thinking of adding the oils (shikakai and what others i'd like) to the cholesterol for DCing on dry hair. Rinse, then use the tea, let it sit for a bit and then DC with a moisturizing conditioner.

I do my version of the paste once a week (I have some in my hair right now) and I now use my tea mostly as a moisture mist several times a week mixed with other stuff added like aloe vera, honeyquat, tea tree. I only DC on wash night, but I do use a moisturizing conditioner afterward always.

I recently tried the paste and NEVER AGAIN will I try it again. I think I spent over an hour trying to remove the herbs from my hair. It just wasn't worth it. I'll be sticking with the tea.

I like the paste better because it stays on my head and doesn't run like the tea and I think it's more beneficial. I think it's better but that's just me. Plus the directions on the box says to make a paste.

Def what she said! :yep::yep::yep:
