Help me out Aveda ladies.. I bought the Universal Styling Creme and it smells simliar to men's cologne. I only used a little bit, but I still smell it..

How are ya'll combatting this smell or are ya'll just smelling like Tyrone?

I don't think it smells "like a man" really. It just has that Aveda signature aroma therapy scent, which I find many of their products smell like.

I actually like it. My sweetie even uses "that expensive white cream", as he called it, his hair and I like the way it makes his hair smell, too.

I think it is one of those love it, deal with it or just leave it along things, you know.

You know, are you using other Aveda products with it?

It seems to strong for me when I layer it with the Brilliant conditioner - just a little too much Aveda all at one time.

it doesn't smell like men's cologne to me either *shrugs*....smells more like chamomile & honey tea to me.

you might try layering it with other products and see if that helps.

OMG my SO loves it too! Sorry MsDee!

I like it too...:look:

Maybe you could try the Aveda Light Elements Reviving Mist. Its pretty smelling Lavendar Flower water. I spray it on my natural hair when it needs a little moisture pick-me-up. You will love the smell.

:lachen: :lachen: ever since Erykah Badu, Tyrone is my name for everything

I used it today right after I bought it on dry hair, and nope this is my FIRST (:D ) Aveda product so I'm not layering it... Maybe I need to let my guy smell it... His silly self will probably like it..

I don't smell it right now, but when I first put it on I did.. maybe it was my hands :look:

I said that EXACT same thing a few times. Everybody was like

I think it smells just like men's cologne. I use it anyway. :ohwell: I kinda like Tyrone now.:look:

At first when I read the post I was like huh? But I have the control paste in my hair right now and I can see how you might feel a little...... manly....not because it smells like men cologne but because it has one of those strong aromas like a mans cologne does where as female products either have a "soft and pink" lavendar smell or it has a mousse like alcohol smell....

I hope you can over come this first challenge cause I love Aveda and I love the way it smells...

I totally agree! I like it its not to strong for me, especially when I wear my chanel lotion that's all everyone smells:)

i'm gonna keep trying... Last night i applied it before i went to sleep with some Vitapointe and I don't smell it this morning... I actually had a slight headache when I first used it...

I'll give it a few days to make my decision... I don't give up easily on products unless they cause damage...

MsDee, I think you may start getting used to it.

I felt the same way as you. I did not dislike the smell but something just was not right. :look: Then I got used to it and even started to love it.

But, even now, with the USC being my favorite moisturizer, I will switch up sometimes just because the scent gets old and I just don't like smelling it that day.

It has been even harder since my BF started using it since he uses it EVERYDAY and even on his wet hair as a leave in. It has really been too much for me now that he has gone USC crazy.

I DEF argee with the OP. I bought Mazani's Smoothing Serum--similar that that of the AVEDA line--and I think it smells like men's cologne or aftershave. I HATE IT. I'm def. going to get some peppermint oil or something else.

It smells like cologne to me too. I dont think my husband likes it either. He is always sniffing my hair and he is used to smelling something thats smells alittle more fruity. I am taking my hair down now and I swear this stuff is burning my nose but this is my first time using the Universal Creme. When he sniffed my hair after I used the Brilliant conditioner he said "what man been on you" .
