How long did it take you to reach your current length?

A LONG FREAKIN' TIME! ---No, let me explain. I never had long hair as a little girl. My hair started getting longer when I was in high school. Then, before my junior year in college, I got layers and got lots of length taken off. In January of '97, I got my last layered cut and began letting my hair grow regular again. I would say that my hair was mid-neck length after the layered cut. By summer of '99, it was a bit past shoulder length. Then, I ran into scissor happy stylist #1. Left him, grew my hair back--only to go to scissor happy stylist #2. Left her only to go straight to scissor happy stylist #3. She was worst of all. Most SHS's (scissor happy stylists) trim so much hair that you don't notice any growth. But NOOOOOOOOO, this girl trimmed so much hair that my hair actually got shorter over time. The last time I saw her was around July. Since that time, I have been doing my own trims. I will get a pro- trim when I have reached my goal length. Yes, my trims are uneven. So WHAT, my hair grows uneven anyway--AND I usually have my hair up anyway. Or roller set. No one can even tell that it's uneven.
My #1 tip for hair growth is to stay away from SHS's. In fact, I think I'm going to add that to my signature.
