@waff I’m curious since the start of our wash routines are similar. Why the two shampoos after the Nizoral scalp treatment, is that not irritating to your scalp? Are you applying the followup shampoos to your hair only?

I do my routine weekly (when in twists) by also using Nizoral with a scalp massager and let it sit for 10 minutes, rinse and then follow up with Camille Rose Caramel Cowash on the length of my hair.

I always use two shampoos in my hair, and Nizoral is mainly for my scalp (severe dundruff). I do not leave Nizoral that long, 3-4 mins maximum and rinse. I find that it's enough to control the flaking this way and calm down my scalp.

The First shampoo I follow up with I like for it to be a sulfate shampoo that will gently clarify and remove build up from my hair and scalp. I have noticed that I still have some build up left when I skip this step. Build up = not retaining moisture.

The last shampoo is a moisturizing shampoo and it helps bring everything back to balance to prepare for dentangling. I noticed that when I skip this step, detangling becomes much more difficult, but when using a moisturizing shampoo, I can easily finger detangle.

I apply shampoo to both scalp and hair, except for Nizoral. My scalp seems fine with this routine and my hair has become much better at retaining moisture since I committed to clarifying my hair regularly. When I use to neglect this step, no matter how much I conditioner/DC, It would get dry very quickly, and need to refresh/moisturize everyday. I can go from wash day to wash day (every 3-4 days) without ever refreshing. It is also important to note that I put in a lot of styling products which can very easily build up if not properly cleansed.

Scalp Treatment: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution OR Cantu ACV Root Rinse
Cleanse: Redken Hair Cleansing Creme
DC: Bekura Beauty Leche de Babassu Conditioner
Post-Wash: Curls and Potions Chebe Growth Rice Water (scalp), Curls and Potions Supercharged Moisture Mist, APB Extreme Hydration Leave In Conditioner
Blow Dry: TIGI Catwalk Blow Dry Balm followed by a butter

Im going to have to do my hair today after work because we have an event at work tomorrow plus I'll be in the city afterwards with my gf.

Im debating on whether to use hennasooq hair mask followed by fenugreek mask steamed in and then condition with something and leave in something and air dry in braids for a braidout.

Gonna come back and update once I figure it out.

On Thursday, I cowashed my hair with Curl Dynasty Give me slip conditioner to prep my hair for a silk press.

Today, I went to the salon for a silk press. I realized that my stylist has been trimming some of my progress away, but I can’t deny that my hair looks healthier from it. Le sigh.

Thanks for the detailed response @waff. That makes sense, if I had a lot of build up I would follow up the Nizoral with another shampoo too. I think I might have done a few times, not sure.

I have done absolutely nothing to my hair since having the box braids out in last weekend until yesterday. I don't want to use things like coconut oil and shea butter because of the risk of them going rancid in my hair. Trying to keep this simple and to not have to wash the actual braids just my scalp.
I don't feel that my scalp needs a wash so I'm skipping that this weekend. To prevent my hair and scalp from drying out I bought some Taliah Waajid Protective Styles products. Should receive the package early next week.

FRIDAY
- Mist scalp and braids with water
- Massage scalp with fingertips to encourage water into hair and calm tender scalp
(I have low porosity hair so the water will just sit on my hair if I don't press it in some kind of way. The box braids aren't tight but my scalp still has tender spots that seem to be there no matter how I do my hair.)

I'm about to do something to my hair I havent done in YEARS! I'm tired of the grey that's becoming more and more prevalent at my hairline and since box colour is the devil for my mane. I gotta do what I know works for me...Henna it is.
Pray for me yall...I had my process down pat many many years ago but like I said it's been a while. Be back later with my results.

Pre-poo: Annabelle's Pre-poo Treatment
Poo: Keracare Hydrating Detangling Poo 2x

DC: Mielle Mongongo Protein Free DC under heat for 30 mins

Dry: Air dry

Oil: Parker J's oil
Styler: Mielle Twistng souffle
