Aubrey Organics Island Spice Rinse as a leave-in?

Hi BlkMane,

I have added a little water to a water bottle and included the conditioner and spritz my hair. It always had my hair very soft and there was never a conditioner build up from using it as a leave in.

That is exactly the way I planned to use it! I bought it only because my old standby Lafier Rinse ran out. I figured that it would be a good time to try the Aubrey's rinse. It doesn't give my hair much slip that is why I DON'T want to use it as a final rinse, but using a diluted version as a leave-in for roller-sets should work fine (I hope). I really like the ingredients (horsetail, sage, rosemary) and thought that it might aid in hair growth if used as a leave-in.

Thanks! Any other comments from others??

I've never used the creme spice as a leave-in. But even as a rinse out, I feel it softening & conditioning qualities are just as long lasting as a leave in.

Hi Blkmane, it's funny /images/graemlins/grin.gif you posted this question I just bought some spice rinse earlier today and loved the ingredients but was also curious as to using it as a leave-in... When do you plan on using this?? I plan on using it tomorrow. Be sure to post your results, as I plan on doing. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi, tiahes! I guess intelligent minds think alike, eh? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm airdrying right now so not sure when my next rollerset will be. I will definitely post when I do.

BTW, I used the Island Spice as a rinse out last night and it was ah'ight but nothing special.

OK girly....we have some kind of weird freaky telepathic experience going on!! /images/graemlins/sleep.gif I am sitting here checking the archives all while air drying my hair with the spice rinse in my hair!! /images/graemlins/grin.gifLOL I didn't really feel like roller setting my hair today because I just did that Sun. and I am trying to get under the dryer once/wk. I did the rinse...nothing to write home about, but my hair had a slightly better silky feel than the regular Lekair cholesterol conditioner I use. Friday I am roller setting my hair and using the diluted spice as a leave in..... we will see /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, I am not pleased at this /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/mad.gif I know that different products work differently on different hair, but geee! Girl, did you use enough? Okay, I will be calm and type something else /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

As a leave-in, I've never used it this way, but here's what I can tell you about a lady who used several of the AO conditioners as leave-ins. You might try her scientific wonder (she said it worked great): 8:1, eight parts distilled water to 1 part conditioner. Use a spray bottle for ease of distribution.

If the Island Spice isn't up to your liking /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/mad.gif [ignore this please, I had to do it /images/graemlins/laugh.gif], I would suggest you try the Jojoba & Aloe Rejuvenating conditioner. You can also use this as a leave-in.

Cheers,

Jade

Hey Jade!

You just reminded me that I have this! The AO Jojoba & Aloe Rejuvenating conditioner. Did you like this?

I'll have to 'ressurrect' that some time too I think. Dang, so many products so little time it seems to try them all /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi, Jade21! Sorry to 'disappoint' you! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I never said that the Island Spice was bad.....it just really wasn't outstanding. I like my cheapie Tropical Avocado Conditioner & Lafier Honey/Almond Rinse much better. They both make my hair softer and detangle better. (Mind you, I really don't have a problem detangling with MOST conditioners)

I do love the smell of AO Island Spice, though. But, boy is it strong! It almost beat out the SCurl I put on my hair later! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Okay, BlkMane,

Thems thar fightin words /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

So, you really don't have a problem detangling with **most**conditioners? Girrrrrrrl, Jade is ready to slap you silly /images/graemlins/grin.gif Wish I could say that /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I agree with you about the smell of the AO Island Spice...it is definitely packed with allspice. If you have ever smelled the essential straight, they definitely use PLENTY.

Smiling at you,

Jade
