Aubrey Organics Blue Green Algae Hair Rescue Conditioning Mask

I found these reviews here:
http://www.aubrey-organics.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=801

.... which prompted me to come here & search. Its great to hear it from ladies you "know":yep:
Thanks a lot for the link baddison.

I use this conditioner every couple of weeks - I purchased for the deep conditioning challenge - and it is really wonderful. Strong, shiney hair. I apply, head in a bag, under the dryer for 15ish minutes, do chores or whatever for another little while or until I get in the shower. My hair loves this as a protein treatment. Given the size of the jar, it is a little pricey, but I'm training myself to use just enough and not glob conditioner all over - it works the same and the products last longer. If you check out Macherieamour's tutorial on deep conditioning, you'll see what I mean - I'm learning this lesson from her - I don't need to apply tons of conditioner for it to work.

I got this free when I purchased the AO GPB condish and poo....I loved this stuff and did not purchase it again because I started Megatekkin' - If they sold it in Vitamin Shoppe - I would consider purchasing it again...FYI - they have BGA Protein + Strengthening Cream Rinse which is similiar to the mask - the difference is that it is that it does not have the "red algae" but it essentially does the same thing and you get more of it..(ya follow me) it has the same usage instructions as the AO GPB, HSR, etc....I was thinking about getting that as well - I am trying to cut back on ordering so much ish..If you decide to get the mask - you will not be disappointed - If I knew then what I know now - I probably would not have purchased the Megatek as my hair was loving this condish - hindsight is always 20/20...

And thanks newflowers and sqzbly for the reviews and the extra on the BGA strengthening cream. I will look into this as well.

ok now im pissed off.
i ordered this more than a week ago and it never shipped so i told them to keep it since my cc wasnt charged.
now i have to find this fast cause now im really curious.

Wow...thanks for this. It would seem that the BGA creme rinse is more potent than the BGA hair mask. Maybe the mask is more of a moisture (the shea butter) and protein (the blue algae) balancing product. But it looks like the BGA rinse is pure protein, they're right up there on the list after the base. Hmmmm....I likey!!:lick: Kinda reminds me of a MegaTek type product....BUT ITS ALL NATURAL!!!! YAAAYYYY.

Is it possible?? :perplexed Could I have finally found an organic/ all natural answer to my protein quest!!!!:spinning:

I am gonna get them both & see which my hair prefers. :yep::yep:

OK....just ordered from VitaGLo.com They offer free shipping on purchases over $50 :nono: .....sssooooooo....It simply made sense to spend the entire $50...LOL!!:lachen:

Dessert Essence, Giovanni Direct, even some other Aubreys products...and I'm home free!!! I love their prices....lets see if the service matches!!:yep:

I think you are right as the BGA indicates that it is for "oily" hair too...

I would be interested to hear your reviews on this product

I only use natural products for my hair and use Aubrey GPB once a month as a light protein. I would like to use a heavier protein a maybe just a couple of times of year and would be interested to see how this compares to GBP.

I did a search but could not find many reviews regarding this product.

Thanks in advance

Rosalindb

Just a quick update since I started this thread. I did try the mask several months ago more for prevention so did not notice anything.

For the last few months my hair has been feeling much too soft and I had a tiny bit of breakage in the crown. I have been using the GBP every 4th week as usual and for the last few weeks, I have been adding organic blackstrap molasses to my HSR which I use every 2nd week but felt like I need something stronger so decided to give the mask another go to see if I noticed any difference.

Last week I pre-pooed with Aubrey Organics Green Algae Hair Rescue Mask & hemp seed oil on dry hair and sat under the hooded dryer for 30 minutes. I thought it would leave my hair hard but it left it feeling really soft.

Even though my hair felt soft, I wanted to ensure that I followed with a good moisturising deep conditioner so used AO Honeysuckle Rose with added honey and organic jojoba oil.

Seven days later and my hair feels much stronger. I am glad that I gave it another try. Next time I will pre-poo with the mask and add some organic virgin coconut oil. By using it with the oil, it stretches it a bit further and I think i can get 3 treatments out of a jar. I will see how it goes but plan on using it every 3 to 4 months as a hardcore protein.

very nice review... smile. I will be incorporating the AO Rescue Mask into my hair care regimen in the near future..

I still really love this mask - my hair is strong and soft. After I use up the tons of other deep conditioners I have, I will use this one with my phytojoba and be a happy girl with beautiful hair.

I order from vitaglo.com - they have the best prices I've seen on this and the nature's way liquid vitamin supplement that I take. The service has been pretty good, and $50 for free shipping is right up my alley.

So far I am impressed. Even this morning I was touching my hair and love how strong it feels. Please let us know how it works for you.

Thank you for all your feedback. I also ordered it from vitaglo as I cannot get it in the UK. I actually e-mailed AO last week to see if there are any plans to launch White Camellia in the UK and am going to e-mail them now to see they are going to launch the mask. The shipping and customs charges work out more than the products :wallbash:

Thanks for the review! i also use this product in my weekly protein regimen. i have been mixing 1/2 Blue Algea Mask with 1/2 BGA Protein & Strengthing condish. the results for me have been magnificent! my hair is sooo strong, yet incredibly soft. i am so glad there is a more "natural/organic" means of getting the protein to my thirsty strands. and the fragrance!!! oooo goodness. it lingers for days and i LOVE it. i have been doing a bit more researsch into bga for hair. i never knew it is so beneficial to hair.

i use my mixtuure as a dc w/heat after washing and/or clarifying. when you rinse this product from your hair....it has so much slip, you'd think it was a moisturizing condish, instead of a protein one. i proceed to detangle...which is effortless...and then i add my bb-oil moisturizer & seal. the next morning....aaaaahhhhhh....the hair is soft to the touch, but to me it feels like i could pull a stubborn horse with iit. LOL!! anyway, i like this product and will continue to use the mask mixed with the strengthening cream. been getting the best results that way!

Thanks for the review. I definitely agree on the increased strength. This will be my hardcore protein and I plan to use again in August perhaps unless I feel my hair needs it before then. I will continue with my AO GBP every 4 weeks in the meantime.

Just a very quick update. I used the mask against last Saturday as a pre-poo treatment. It has been six months since I last used it. I used it with organic virgin coconut oil. I applied the mask on dry hair and sat under my hooded dryer for 30 minutes. I shampooed, then conditioned with Aubrey Organics White Camellia.

My hair feels noticeably stronger but still really soft. My hair is in its usuals cornrows and I have been playing with the ends all week. Considering I should have trimmed my hair on Sunday as I have not trimmed since last April, my ends feel great and so moisturised - a definite improvement

This is a definite keeper for me and I think I will continue to use this at least twice a year as my hardcore protein treatment.

i have this mask. i used it once when i was transitioning and loved it but havent used it since. i wasnt sure if it was light or hard protein but it made my transitioning hair soft. i may use it this sunday because i love love love protein and cant get enough.

Too bad Jade21 doesn't still have her blog up. She reviewed this in her blog. I tried it some years ago and really like it!

Hey there, Ballerina Bun... I am loving that beautiful bun pic of yours.... smile....Yes, Jade21 introduced me to Aubrey Organics (AO) products through an article she had written years ago on hairboutique.com......smile....

I tried the AO Hair Rescue Mask for the first time about a month ago, and I must say that I really like it and it is definitely a keeper for me. And of course you know that I added a little bit of AO GPB for that extra punch... LOL.....I apply the mask to my hair (dry) and sit under the dryer for about 15 minutes... altogether, I leave it on my hair anywhere between one hour and two hours before shampooing it out.....It leaves my hair strong and soft... smile....

che, i would say it is a moisturizing protein conditioner.. it extends moisture and strength at the same time... you should be able to use it two to three times a month on your hair without any adverse effects.....i think the hardcore protein treatments would leave your hair harder and stiffer...

This post is making me want to try some AO products...
Would the mask be a good substitute/replacement for the Kenra moisturizing products?

i would say AO honeysuckle rose conditioner and jojoba & aloe conditioner would be just as if not more moisturizing than the kenra moisturizing products....

I agree with this post. For me it works stronger than GBP so I use it as my personal hardcore treatment twice a year but I am sure that it would not come close to the true hardcore treatments such as Aphogee etc.

I personally do not need anything stronger, my hair is natural and I do not use heat except for my pre-poo treatments, I only use natural products and keep my hair in protective styles.

It is definitely moisturising as well as strengthening I am still loving how soft my hair feels and need to keep my hands out of the ends.

i thought i updated. anyway i love this stuff. i got my hands on a jar and used it 3 times on my all natural hair. it works stronger now then it did then. it makes my natural hair feel really strong and plumps the curls since too much moisture can make my hair limp. on my relaxed hair it made my hair more soft then strong.
