Attention Weave Experts!!

Hello all, I am looking into getting my very first weave! I am so new to this and relly don't know where to start. I've been looking through hair forums for hours and keep getting mixed reviews on hair that I am considering. I would like to get a mixture of these looks:

Something soft but slightly coarse, loosely curled but not wavy, and not too shiny. The reason why I want larger curls is because I want to wear it SL to above APL. Nothing longer. I want it to look as natural as possible.

What non-bss hair would you recommend for this look? I've looked into Halley's Curls, AAMH and RHO but I am not sure which would give me this type of curl and texture for this length.

Also, if you ladies would recommend a braiding pattern to achieve this look, partial/full weave, etc.?

TIA!!

Wags NC or a virgin curly.....check out the BHM weave board, they have threads and threads on it and its alternates.

ETA: You can also send those pics to a CV (Chinese vendor) to get it custom made, if you are in no rush. CVs are cheaper on occasion, depending on the country of origin of your hair and the amount of processing it requires.

^ thank you so much. I've been looking at BHM weave threads, but I'm just confused as to which direction I should gear towards. I've seen alot of pics of Halley's Curls Miami Ripple, Miami Relaxed, and KC/KW but they just don't look like what I am looking for.

Maybe I just need to see some shorter installs. I am seeing more people wearing longer installs and that may be a reason as to why I am not seeing any match to the above pictures.

Hmmmm... The first picture looks like a deep wave to me before it has been styled. When you unravel the track as you sew it, it kind of separates the curls and they sit up like that. Once you style it or wash it kind of goes flat. I had some Goddess Remi body wave hair that did that. But I washed it the curls never looked that way again. Also, a lot of the time the hair will look different depending on what products you use and how you style it. You could be seeing hair that looks long and hangs bc they styled it to do that.

The second picture looks like it could be a kinky 3b/3c texture. The curls are too big to be 4a. The dye makes it look coarse/dry though. If you did a kinky curly texture in a shorter length or you cut it it'd look more like a fro. Have you thought about trying the HCCC in a shorter length? What about the HC Natural? It looks like a fro in the pictures on the site but I saw someone on BHM with it wet and it had curls in it. It looked similar to the Bohyme Brazilian to me. The curls were smaller than Beyonce's though. I think you could use that to duplicate the second style in a shorter length.

ETA: It looks like Alicia has some hair left out with a part. I'd braid straight back and leave out a horseshoe for blending. If you're covering all you hair it doesn't really matter what braid pattern. For the second picture you could braid it straight back and sew it in a circle. You could also braid it into the beehive shape and then sew the hair in a circle.

I completely agree....with all the 18" and 20"+ hair up there, it can be hard to imagine what it would look like shorter. Wagmans, Indique, Arjuni and Jujuhair seem to be hot there right now for virgin curly.

This is Wags NC, which i think resembles the pics of A. Keys:

here is the thread i pulled this pic from:

i believe arjuni 2c is also similar:

HTH!

^^^that is more of a wave than a curl. also, the HC Natural is way too small, tighter than a KC almost.

here is the HC Natural:
http://public.fotki.com/alotofstrands/halleys-curl-natural/

i think in this case, a kinky curly like BoBraz would be too small. i just got some in the mail and it would take toooooo much manipulation to get it to look like that.

also, i'd def go with this braiding pattern for the first one. if you want a side part, just move your horseshoe over:
http://public.fotki.com/mfdavis/sew-in-tutorial/

for the second, i'd go with a full head sew-in with edges only out. that would probably be best as a beehive, or even straight backs with the ends tacked up.

ITA... The thing with the Bohyme Brazillian is that it seems to look different every time I see it. Mine didn't really look like this picture. I've purchased it multiple times and every time it acts different. In some pictures the curl look like it could work for the 2nd style OP posted but in others it doesn't. Fresh out the pack it looks almost like a kinky straight. It doesn't curl up until you wash it with shampoo. I guess that coating has to come off. It also looks different wet than when dry. When wet it looks more like an S wave but when it's dry it looks more like a kinky spiral or corkscrew. I'd describe it as a very kinky 3c. The curls were bigger than my curls (which are 4a) but it was more coarse and kinky than my hair which was odd. I had to do all this conditioning and detangling which I typically don't do with my hair.

^^That picture isn't BoBraz, but I still agree, I've noticed that it looks different on different people, depending on what is done with it. There is a ginormous thread on BHM (I'm sure you've seen it, I think it's years old) and in there I've seen it look big and bushy when it's not moisturized well, almost like Teyana Taylor's hair, and I've seen it look like 3b hair on some chicks once it's got Crisco and Cantu on it. My leaveout (perimeter) is mainly 3c, so crossing my fingers that once it's in it'll blend well....

Exactly. That was my point. It could be manipulated to look a variety of ways. You can put products on it, you can brush it out, you can wash and go, you can do a twist out, you can curl it with an iron, etc. Besides we'll never know how the hair in the picture was styled to look that way anyway. I highly doubt it was wash and go hair. Also, that hair is dyed and dye can loosen the texture too so if someone purchases the same hair it may not look the same.

True!

Speaking of dye, I am toying with the idea of bleaching chunks of my BoBraz, but I know it can affect the texture....someone made a wig with bleached ends on BHM with CV kinky curly and totally ruined the ends. they ended up snipping them all off. (Maybe that gives me my answer.)

OP is gonna be like  lol

I thought it about it too but I was afraid the dye would ruin the hair. And if I had bought the BB colored, colored hair tends to be dry and more frizzy so I didn't know how it would look. I used to wear Goddess Remi French Wave all the time in college when I was relaxed. The 1b definitely looked and acted different than when I bought a streaked batch. It looked messy in comparison, IMO. It was like nothing I did could tame the streaked hair. I can't imagine how it would have acted if I had gotten a pack of like 30 or 33. :ohwell:

^^ Thank you so much all of you. I think I wanna go more with the Alicia look than the Beyonce look, unless I go with a longer length. I don't want it to look too fro-ish. I want it to have more hang, but I don't want a wave.

Also, I think Barbie83's hair has more of a wave than curl IMO.

I'll look at the links you've suggested and also research more of the hair you all suggested will give me any of the two looks.

Thanks again! I hope I get more replies til I find a solution... =/
