Attacked by a Duckbill Clip

Yesterday while getting dressed for work, I had a couple of duckbill clips pinned to my twists to make them lay flat. While bending down to pick something up, the one on the right side turned perpendicular and jabbed inside of my ear. The force at which it entered my ear felt like a huge bug had flown inside my ear (in fact that's what I initially thought happened)! Needless to say, I let out a piercing scream and immediately started crying. :crying3:

After my visit to an ER, I found that I had punctured my eardrum. The good news is that it will eventually heal on its on in about 2 weeks and my hearing should return to normal. Right now the sound is muffled to nil in my right ear.

I never thought a duckbill clip could be so dangerous! From now on, I will be more careful with my placement of those types of clips.

I've attached a pic of the "offending party" for those of you who don't know what a duckbill clip looks like.

I am sorry that happened to you... I am so glad that the doctor said your eardrum will heal on its own. Who would have thought that a clip would do damage?!?... thanks for sharing this story with us.:)

That sounds super painful:shocked:! It went really deep to have punctured your ear drum. this reminds me of when my son let his lil cousin stick a Q tip in his ear (she called herself cleaning his ear). He was crying and screaming. I felt so bad for him. Anyway, Glad you are okay. i was thinking about buying duckbill clips to hold in my rollers but i guess i will stick to the metal clips:yep:.

The pain was excrutiating!!! I swear it felt like something had gone into the center of my head. The pain is minimal today (thanks to Percocet and Aleve) but it's strange not being able to hear out of one ear.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I know that was painful. I'm happy to hear that it will heal on its on and that you are doing better today. Who would have ever thought that something like that could happen. I guess we all have to take caution when using pointy objects.

 WOW! I am so sorry to hear about this! We should all be more careful with our hair implements in the future. I wonder if there's a way those clips could be re-designed to make them a less "pointy" and dangerous....

ow ow ow!! that is horrid! sorry you went through that. :( I've never had problems with them but I'll be more careful in the future.

Ouch!!!

I'm so sorry that happened to you, but I'm glad you'll be okay. I use those clips sometimes to, and I'll definitely be careful in the future.

Oh my goodness! I'm glad you are on you way to complete recovery. I'm sorry that happend. Thanks for reminding us to be safety conscious. We can take things that we use everyday for granted sometimes. Keep us posted on your progress.

Wow, that's scary. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. I'm glad to hear that it will heal.

Dang, Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!!!@

I hope you feel better soon. The pain had to be unreal.
