Hello!

I just posted this in the salon review forum, but I realize not a lot of you go there.

I've been natural for about 2.5 years now. I am filled with trepidation at the thought of putting chemicals in my hair. At the same time I no longer have the time and patience to deal with my natural hair in all it's nappy glory:lachen:

Can you give me some referrals of stylists/salons that really know what it means to texlax and won't mess me up??

TIA

Gorgeous hair. I used to live in Atlanta but the turn over rate for stylist is so high that I would fear recommending you to someone because they probably aren't there anymore.

Bump. Hopefully you get so more replies.

I just remembered...Dontspeakdefeat (an LHCF member) lives in Atlanta. When I go home for Christmas I want to visit her for a good trim. She frequently post on the forum, you might try PMing her.

I started going to my stylist in January when I was still natural. Here is the link to my review of my 1st visit: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=327821&highlight=.

Since then I, too, got tired of my natural hair & becuase my natural texture is kinky, curly & wavy, a texturizer was not an option for me (per my stylist). I was informed by her that a curl was the only way for me to get a uniform texture.

I have one now but I'm trying to migrate towards a more holistic lifestyle & I'm hoping that if I can get my natural hair closer to my goal length, I'll like it more. And if I not...I guess I'll just be holistic minus my jheri curl touch-ups. :look:

Thanks nakia,

My sister actually went through a similar process as you, only her hair fell out when she went for a touch up because the stylist overlapped and ended up over-processing. She is back natural now and just gives me the :nono: when I mention any kind of chemical treatment to my hair.

Nevertheless, I am determined to texlax, if only I can find the right person to do it. Shoot, I wouldn't even mind one of the successfully and more experienced texlaxed ladies on here doing it for me!

Still Bumping!!!

I originally got my curl in March. I received a touch up in June. My stylist is anal about chemicals. If you went to her she probably wouldn't even texlax you to begin with. She touched up only the new growth. Plus, if you overlap the chemicals with the curl, the results will be the same as if you overlap a relaxer - eventual damage. I haven't ruled the curl out (hence my subtitle "unofficially" transitioning. Basically I'm just trying to reach my hair goals & then decide.

Good luck on finding a stylist. If you do decide to give Natalie a try, I don't think her number is in the thread. Just send me a PM & I'll send you her number. Take care...

Your hair actually looks healthy in your picture. Your stylist must be very cautious! I'll pm you for her info.

Thanks Nakia!
