I went to the Hair show today and I must say it was a site to see. There were so many beautiful natural heads there I was just in awe. Now, the venue seemed too small for the amounts of people that were there. You were unable to move around. I felt I couldn't enjoy myself and properly listen to the many many presentations. There weren't many samples, but they really didn't need them becuase folks were buying buying buying.
I saw many "natural products" but I wasn' t familar with any of the vendors. All of the big vendors had products you can pretty much buy online. And if there were any deals to be got, it was hard to even get up to the tables to find out....
Over all just admiring all of the natural heads were priceless..... :)

I was there! Taren916 was at the Huetiful booth. They got bigger rooms this year, but the crowds always makes it seem small. My sister and I got there around 1p and stuck to my plan. I hit the following booths:
- Zuresh (two body wash and a body spray for $40.00 (very nice discount)
- Locsoc (3 loc socs black, green, and a brown and white pattern) for $30.00 (www.soclocsoc.com)
- Huetiful (ordered one to send to my cousin in STX). $114.00 no tax, free shipping.

I was out by 3p.

My only extra expense was two pairs of earrings $10.00.

All the big named vendors Miss Jessie's, Talijah Wajiid, etc... had very big deals. I heard people saying that Miss Jessie's product discounts were $19.00 for Baby Buttercreme.

Tomorrow you will see a lot of free give aways and HUGE discounts, especially late in the day.

Enjoy.

If you've never tried Zuresh, check them out. There bath products are the BOMB. I don't love all there scents, only the Essence, and Intimacy.

Please share more about the new products and the deals so I can pretend I was there! Did anyone take pics?

I went today and had a fantastic time!!! The line at the Miss Jessie's Booth was out of control, but they were really good at compensating people for the long wait (I was given 4 free tee shirts :D). Jane Carter Solution was offering some amazing deals (products started at $5 and went up to $10). Shea Moisture were selling their line for 3 for $20 and soaps 3 for $10. I used their stand to get some great products for Mother's Day!

Uncle Funky's Daughter and the Design Essentials Naturals (DEN) reps were showing some great styling options. I'd say those two booths are not to be missed! If you have time to go to the 10:30 AM or 3:30 PM classes offered by Design Essential's I think you'd really find both sessions worth your wild! I wish I could go back just to take the DEN class again!!!

Overall, it was a FANTASTIC show because of all the BEAUTIFUL heads of hair that were there! I can't wait till next year:grin:!!!!

I went on Saturday and it was off the chain. So many people. But not unbearable.

LOVED looking at the natural heads. That was a show in itself. Went by Uncle Funky's and Hair Rules to get some conditioners, leave-ins and shampoos. Wanted to get some Shea Moisture products but that 3 for 20 sold out.

All the ladies I met were very nice and told me what they use on their hair as well.

Will definitely go next year.

i went by on Sat. w/my mother but we got turned away. apparently there were too many ppl inside & the fire marshall wouldnt let anyone else in. :(

my coworker went today (sunday) & she racked up on the new Design Essential natural product line & Moroccan oil. my cousin volunteered @ the Taliah Wajjid booth both days...

i will def be goin to the next 1 in sept., i think

I'm really upset that I am not living back in Atlanta right now and missed this show. maybe I will be back for next year ?????

Wish I would've went but oh well. One of my girlfriends went yesterday and she didn't enjoy it, because of it being crowded.

Thats the only thing I didn't like last year was that it was hard to move around and crowded.

I plan on going to the show next weekend . Listening to you ladies has me super excited!

I went yesterday. It was okay. I'm used to larger shows like Bronner Brothers so I was a little disappointed but there was still a good representation of natural hair care companies.

Jane Carter was there (the woman not just her products). I got the Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner, the Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner, and Nourish and Shine. The two conditioners were $5 each and the Nourish & Shine was $10. The total was $20 for all three products which is a great price because the Nourish and Shine alone is normally $22 in the store.

Be Huetiful Steamers were there. I was hoping for a larger discount on their steamers. They were priced at $110 for the steamer and facial steamer attachment and they are throwing in the headband at no additional cost. Its normally $125 for the steamer with facial attachment and the headband is normally $5.95. There may have been discounts on the products but I didn't pay much attention to that as I've got more than enough products at home. Rather than get the steamer and attachment for $110, I'd rather see the steamer alone for $90. The facial attachment seems cool but I know it would just collect dust in my home. I'd probably never use that thing. I'm still trying to decide if I want to buy it...

***If anyone wants the steamer, they are honoring the hair show prices on the website so place your order today for the discounted price.***

Hicks Total Transformations was there and was selling their Edges product for $10 each or 3 for $26. They were doing demonstrations and it was pretty impressive. I can't believe I slept on that product for so long. It was a good value too because they sell for $15 each on the website.

The Edge Stick people were there and were selling their product for $50 cash or $53 with credit or debit. I've been on the fence about edge straighteners for a while. I wasn't sure if they were good enough to justify the price (usually $80+) but they tested one on my edges and I liked it. I picked that up yesterday too. :)

My last purchase was a shea butter lotion by RA Cosmetics. It smells yummy like mango and was 2 for $7.

There were lots of other companies there but these are the ones I was interested in. I'd love to hear feedback from others that went to the hair show...

I agree with BA. There are usually more vendors there. I got
(2)Jane Carter Nourish and Shine, the replenishing conditioner and the wrap and roll($30). I stocked up on my beloved Shea Moisture Black soap(3 for $10 crheaper than tarjay) and I got the Tropical Roots sampler pack( $10 for 5 full sized products). I got a lot of rings at the $2 vendors also. The only people I was looking for that I didn't see were the strawller people but I'll probably just order them online.

I went to the show yesterday with my sister and some friends. Believe it or not, it's the first time I've ever been to a natural hair show, even though I'm natural . Since I didn't have anything to compare it to, I thought it was great. I ended up buying only a few items because I'm trying to curb my PJism:

  • Huetiful Steamer: like BA said above, it was $110 for the facial steamer and the hair steamer together. It will be shipped to my house by this Wednesday (yayyyy). Since my other steamer broke months ago, I'm excited about receiving this.
  • Henna and Indigo: I bought 2 packages of the henna/indigo combos for $13 each. I can't tell you how great it was to buy this and not have to pay for shipping .
  • Zuresh Smoothing Detangler and Moisturizer: I've never heard of this company or product before, but let me tell you, I am SO GLAD I bought this (I got 2 for $25). This is one of the best detanglers and moisturizers I've ever tried ... and I've tried a lot of products. The product smells great, and it's made with all natural ingredients. I don't remember reading any raves about it on this forum, but I can't understand why not. This product is fabulous!! The only thing I regret is not buying more, but if I have to order it online, I will do so gladly.

Oh ... and I also bought some high-pigment makeup and cool earrings too. I walked out of there with about $4 left in my wallet!!

Overall, I enjoyed the show. When the show comes back to Atlanta in April, I will be there hunting down that Zuresh ... trust!!

TaraDyan I am a die hard Zuresh fan. I think I posted my haul earlier in this same thread from the April event. I got deals on my body wash and body spray. They also attend Shecky's Girls Night out events. So you may want to check that out when it comes back to Atlanta too.

@makemild: OMG, I didn't even read the beginning of this thread to see that you mentioned Zuresh (that's what I get for not reading the thread first).

I've never heard of Shecky's Girls Night Out, but I'm going to keep an eye out for that event. These 2 bottles will not last me until next April, so I hope I can buy more before then. :nono:

TaraDyan check out their body stuff. I get really bad dry skin in the winter time and their body cleanser is the BOMB.com. It really helps me to retain moisture in my skin. Almost to the point of not needing to put on lotion afterwards. AND a little goes a LONNNNNG way. So when it comes to skin I use Chagrin Valley Salt and Seaweed soap in the summer and warmer months and Zuresh in the winter.

I've been tempted to purchase their cat shampoo stuff but I haven't as yet.

I still have them on my wishlist of hair stuff to try but my skin had to come first.

makemild: thanks for that suggestion. I'm so happy with this moisturizing conditioner/detangler that I would love to try their skin/body products.

TaraDyan, thanks for the review. I bought some Zuresh products when they were here in Richmond during hurricane Irene. I didn't buy the Detangler but she gave me some samples. I bought the Conditioner, Leave-In, Get it Wet Moisturizer, Hair Butter, Honey Gel and the Lemon Body Wash.

I like the Conditioner, Leave-In and Hair Butter. The Gel and Moisturizing Mist are too sticky for me. She suggested that I use the detangler for coils which I can't wait to try.

Hey faithVA!

If you get a chance to try the detangler/moisturizer, you definitely should. When we were walking around the show on Saturday, the rep from Zuresh called us over and asked if she could apply the product to my hair. She took a section of my hair in the back and smoothed the detangler/moisturizer on it. Seriously, that small section of my hair was so much better than the rest of it, I wanted to slather my whole head with the product .

TaraDyan, I definitely will. But you ever get something and you try to save it for a special occassion? :yep: Since I only have a sample I think I'm holding on to it. But I think they will be back in October so I definitely want to try it before then so i can restock on my goods.

But when I shampoo this weekend, I may sneak a peak on the hair in my crown area to see what's going on. :yep:
