Gmail came out when the current young professionals were in HS/college and they grabbed onto it, use it for gchat, etc. Now in certain circles they use it as a marker of your educational pedigree. I have heard some people say that all black professionals they know who went to X level college use gmail so if you don't have it they start giving you side-eyes.

I tuned her out when she did a tutorial on how to put a wig on over a sew in. She got dragged so hard in the comments that she disabled them and ultimately ended up deleting the video all together.

My mother (58)has a gmail account. I'm 31 and I still use my yahoo. When I was in college (2003) I used hotmail. My mother went to college in her mid 50s so on paper I look older than her, lol.
I was forced to open up a gmail account, not sure why. I barely use it.
