Hello Ladies.
This all comes after a year of hair drama that began with a botched Dominican Relaxer that sent me on a downward spiral into hair oblivion.
It was then I decided to stop fully relaxing my hair. I was confident and ready to deal with all of the political implications of the natural. It was a very Cree Summer..."Power to the People!" kind of moment.
The first night I made the BC I was terrified. I was extremely self conscious because it was just too frizzy. Type 4 B confirmed!
So I paid $225 for kinky twists. They turned out beautiful, but too big. I couldn't even make a ponytail. I honestly could not wear that to work and maintain any sort of respect in my profession. The next morning I cut them all out. Back to the drawing board. That was 6 hours on Saturday.
On Sunday spending another 6 hours, I paid $100 for a "silkener" at a D.C. salon (Miss Jessie wannabe) and walked out with a frizzy mess. I did my own corrective with Mizani mild a few days later and it turned out great... but days later back to frizz fro.
After serious trial and error over the last week or so. I'm talking product after product after product.... I have found a regimen that makes my Kinky Curls smooth, shiny and defined. I'm finally at a place of peace sisters. I can now hold my head high at the next happy hour!
Cleanse: Mix of Creme of Nature for Dry Hair/Kenra Moisture Shampoo
Condition: Kid's Organics Deep Conditioner
Hydrate: Worlds of Curls on SOAKING WET hair
Shine: Quarter sized amount of Let's Jam Regular Hold
Define: Sebastian Wet... for extra hold Smooth n Shine Mousse.
My only regret is that I used chemicals to get rid of frizz when I could have gotten the look I wanted with enough product.
Stay tuned for the grow out!!
