Argh! I'm addicted to touching my new growth...

I have a problem. I keep touching my new growth, and I can't stop! I pull at, I pat it, rub my finger along the tiny ripples, twist random pieces that somehow coiled up, compare it against my finger to judge it's length...I've always had this problem and I CAN'T STOP. And I do it everywhere!

Does anyone else have this problem? It's probably not good for my hair, right? And i'm only halfway to my touch up! Help me stop, I feel like I'm lacking self control! :ohwell:

LoL add me to the list...it was really bad when I first joined LHCF back in 04 but it has calmed downs since NG isn't so new anymore hehe.

i cant WAIt to be fully natural now!

Guilty!
Was actually playing with my new growth while opening this thread haha.
I do it alllllllllll the time, to the point where my boyfriend's been like "can you please stop that, it's not attractive." :perplexed

I'm playing with mines with the left hand as I'm typing this with the right. I can't stop! I like touching the little springy spirals.

New growth is like crack for your fingers - one hit and it's all over.

Ain't no rehab. for that. You might as well just give up trying to stop right now.

I tell my BF to touch it all the time. I will part my hair and be like "Look at all the waves!!!"

Lol! girl that's what me and some of my friends do sometimes. Look at ittt, it's so cutteee, the little beebees...

Hm, maybe I can find someway to like, turn this addiction into something more useful, like coupling touching my newgrowth with massaging my scalp or something...

Do you still play in yours? You're at 100% right? I didn't play in mine when I was natural. But I can't stay out of it when relaxed/texturized. *sigh* I must just be attracted to the difference.

 Yup, this is wha I do. If I'm gonna have hair in hand disease I may as well put them hands to good use!

I have this problem too. MSM has made is so much softer that I just can't keep my hands out of my new growth! But I agree, at least try to make it useful  ...I love massaging my hair when in the shower and before and after deep conditioning.

Yep, I'm natural, all my hair feels like new growth.

Girl, my puffs look all nice and neat when I leave for work. After a full day of my hands in my hair, I look like pigeons been pecking on my head!:lachen: The only way that I can keep my hands out of my hair is when it's in twists. And even then, I'll tug on them cuz they are springy.

:lachen: @ pigeons pecking. Now that you mention it I do remember the frizz I got from stretching out the coils and feeling them recoil. :yep:

I have this problem. I thought it was just me. I think the flax seed oil and MSM is making my new growth so soft...I can't stop touching it.

I like the fact that my newgrowth is extra hard now. I never knew I had coils until I started stretching.

I pull them and play with them. I love the feeling. I actually miss them when I relax sometimes.

Actually, this is how I know I like getting my hair relaxed...feeling the new growth is great and addictive, but it makes me all the more tempted to see what it will look like relaxed! Haha, it's an ongoing cylce...and I've only built up to 8-9 week stretches! :perplexed

I do this too. And I do it in public. Just this past Friday, I was out at a restaurant playing with my new growth. My friends thought I was trying to flirt with a man, but I really was touching my new growth. It's so soft.

I do it all day long now, especially since my bangs grow the fastest. I look a hot mess after I leave my 3 1/2 hour class with my bangs sticking straight up!

Me too, and I'm not used to this nice, wavy texture.

Someone needs to start a no-touch challenge!

Girl, I read "no-touch" and started twisting my hair around my finger. :lachen:

I was doing the same thing. I only stopped to type. I'm 10 weeks post and my appointment is sat.
I measure with my fingers in every area of of my head. I learned that the back grows at a slower rate and is more of a 4C !! It's more like Coils then waves like the rest.
it calms my nerves while I am at work. All this time I thought It was just me. And by the way I have 2in in the top and between 1-1 1/2 everywhere else.

I have been using the sulphur mix from this site. I think it works.

Gurlllllllll, you betta leave your hair alone. You're gonna touch your way all the way to natural and this time next year make a post about how you just BC'd!!! :)

Oh my goodness, that is sooo me. I read this thread and couldn't help but laugh.

Here, here! I love playing in my new growth especially when it's nice and soft. Jane Carter Nourish & Shine and MSM have made it soft and curlier/coils.
