Hey everyone, i purchased a wet to dry flatiron maybe 3months ago. I have yet to use it. I need to know if these flatirons are considered safe to use weekly or perhaps every 2 weeks? Technically i am thinking its safer because you are skipping the blowdry process. Also, if anyone has ever used one what were the results? was your hair stiff? still frizzy? hard? TIA

I think I read that the wet to dry flat irons are actually more damaging. (Maybe I even read it on this hair site :) -

So I think air drying or blow drying on low heat is better and then flat ironing.
That would be my guess.

I cringe at the sight of these wet to dry irons. But my good friend is a mostly 3c/4a natural who uses it all the time and she has no damage. She also flat irons her hair bone straight every week and there is no damage. Her haircare process is still a wonder to me. Her curls and kink revert EACH and everytime. I just don't get it.

As for me, I wouldn't NEVER use it.

Which one did you purchase? I started a thread about the T3 but never got a response. I have a friend who is natural and loves the T3 her stylist uses on her.

I think it's Revlon. I'll have to check the brand when i get home. I know it's a cheapie drug store brand. I'm not feeling brave lately, but i think i will give it a try one day. Perhaps I won't use it often, but i'll use it on those special occasion days when i want lots of body/swing and shine. As i do remember that when flat-ironing or curling wet/damp hair...it always leads to this. When i do it...I'll let you guys know how it turns out!!!!

Hello Ladies,
I haven't been around for a bit (dealing with family matters) and I'm finally catching up on the posts and emails.

Just wanted to say that I use the T3 wet to straight 1 1/4" and have been doing this about 1x per week for about 8 months +. I love it and have even started to see growth past my shoulders! Finally after trying to get my hair to start down my back for years its showing.

So, in my humble opinion, I say the wet to straight has been a wonderful find. Ihave no damage, no scorching of my hair, no drying, or frying. The time to go from wet to dry and styled hair is 30 mins maybe 35 mins. It used to take me 45 mins just to blow dry (Dominican style) then, I would bump it with a curling iron if needed.

I always use a heat protectant (Farouk, Chi, or L'Oreal). I do this 1x per week and use the Caruso, or Vidal steam curlers to freshen the look over the next couple of days. The sizzle sound was wierd at first- I thought I was frying my hair, but it is just the excess water being removed. Also, I wrap my hair in an absorbant microfiber towel for about 10 mins while I do other stuff like brush my teeth, or what ever. So when I begin, my hair is not dripping wet. After A few days of wearing my hair straight, I condition wash and wear it natural for a few days, and begin the regimen again.

I believe the key is to use a quality iron with real ceramic plates. They heat more evenly and add great shine. when I first found out about this appliance, I bought a cheap one to try it. Then I invested in a quality brand off of Ebay to save $. I've been smiling and styling ever since. ;)

Good Luck Ladies
