Are there any "real" naturals here with long hair?

I have been chemical free since 1996. But I stopped pressing my hair in May 06 and am now completely natural.

ThursdayGirl, thanx for your post. :)

HP, I dont have long hair but I am 3c/mostly 4a. I dont have the coils without product to make it coil up. If I dry naturally with no product, it looks just like a regular fro. Also camera flash will make hair appear to be curly with a finer texture on the web, but in person you cant see that type of definition. My first pics everyone thought I had this silky, silky hair but it was all camera flash.

Some people have pics in their albums with product and with out product, but a lot of pics are after they have been styled and may have gel, cream, or something that brings out the texture and defines curl. So just keep that in mind when you are looking at albums, you may be over looking someone who actually has the texture you seek.

I never implied that naturals are not natural if they have curly hair. I should've worded things differently because now some people are mis-interpretation of the mis-interpreted message.

I just read this. Glad to see no one is implying that curlies aren't naturals. With some of the posts that have been around here lately, it's hard to tell.

OP, I know what you meant. I was trying to be funny. I know it probably sounded like an angry post, but be assured it wasn't. WE curly girls still love you!! :)

Glad you cleared that up! I was confused. Glad you found what you were looking for also!

Exactly! I'm mostly 4a, but certain products, weather conditions, hair styles, etc. make my hair appear straighter/smoother. I'm not going to lie, I do have some 3c hair (around the edges), but the curls/waves that you see at my ends are from my hair being really OLD. I haven't had a hair cut in over 3 years, and I almost never wear protective styles- so I've noticed that my hair is much kinkier at the roots.

My hair is the opposite of silky.;) I just posted a picture in the gallery of my dry/ without product hair texture from a couple of years ago. Hope this is what you were looking for.

At the moment I almost brastrap when untouched, and waist length when stretched.

Also, not sure if you've seen it but... if you go to the homepage (http://longhaircareforum.com/home.php) there is a link that discusses hair typing, it kind of makes it a bit easier. :o

See now I am really confused about my hair type. Countrygal help me pleaseeeeeeee!!!!!! I think I am a 4c but there is not 4c. Then I read the types and say ok I am a 4a cuz my hair curls if I don't combout. Oh mannn!:perplexed

And this is EXACTLY why I don't subscribe to this hair typing system stuff. It's more confusing than helpful IMO. Who cares what label you put on it, your hair is what it is! LOL! I just go by pictures if I need to identify someone with similar hair as me.

by golly, the word "natural" creates such "deep" conversation !

I think it was more of the "real" with the no curlies or wavies that confused people.

Had I not read on I woulda jumped the gun and posted a "WTF" type of response to it as well.

Curly ladies, you all need to stop trippin'. the OP and other posters made it abundantly clear, if not in the title of this post-then in the body, that she wanted to see long haired naturals with kinky hair. maybe "real" wasn't the best choice of words in the title... but pleast stop playing stupid and being sarcastic about the sentiment. We all know that the natural hair runs the gamut of textures. Even on the same head.

While long curly hair is pretty, long well-cared-for nappy hair is gorgeous in its own right. Whenever someone on this board asks about long haired naturals... all the curlies come out of the woodworks. they are revered and get lots of attention (I'm not knocking that). However we don't see as many long haired 4a/bs. If your hair isn't 3c and lower or loosely curled, then its not always as inspiring to always see a curly haired cuties...and set them as your goal...because your hair texture will never be like that without chemical help. In addition, its helpful to see someone with kinky long hair, because despite however bad a curly may say her hair behaves, I seriously doubt that her issues are the same as someone with really kinky hair (I am not saying that curlies and kinky curlies don't have their own issues). Sometimes you need inspiration that comes from someone with hair that looks like yours.

Please stop being melodramatic, curlies. Nobody is putting you down or trying to exclude you. No one is trying to offend you. No, its not your fault that your hair is the texture that it is... the OP just wanted to see something else and I totally feel her.

I want to add another napp with beautiful hair to the list. I don't think she's apl yet, but she's getting there... Netta1.

To the OP... there are lots of ladies on this site with lovely nappy hair (they are listed in other posts)...if you need more inspiration... you may want to look for it at another site... in addition to this one.

To the long haired naturals who have kinky tresses and may be lurking... let us know you're there :).

Also to the OP: If I have put words in your mouth... I appologize. I put a little of what I feel in my post as well.

Just a little REAL talk.
This is the most eloquent post in this thread. It really didn't have to be all the drama.

I can relate to that. I think there needs to be a longer list of numbers because it gets really really confusing. :ohwell:

:notworthy So, so true about the drama. :scratchch But I guess a little drama keeps things exciting. Plus I notice some really cool people here too. I get to learn all of the personalities here.

(you are crazy!!!)
I assume that you had chemical processes done to your hair, but hey, it looks great anyway.

See...that's the confusing part. If there's types 1-4, where's 5-6-7-and8, and how about d=e=f=and =g
There's a lot of great hair here but there should be names for it I guess

Well, I'm 100% natural. I have no chemicals or dyes in my hair. However, I don't have 4a/b hair. My hair is pretty curly. So, I guess I'm a "fake" natural. God must've made a mistake on me!! :( Lawd help us!

IMO all hair types are pretty if they are healthy and well taken care of.
Also, if your hair is not chemically treated it's natural, regardless of hair type.

I agree with you. ;)
