I am seriously considering getting my hair dyed blonde. I want to really bad. But I am afraid all my hair is gonna fall out or breakoff because I'm relaxed also.
Do any of you relaxed heads bleach or dye you hair?
Do you have any tips or advice?
Also my ultimate goal is waist length and I'm almost BSL, I'm almost there in fact I should be there when I relax at the end of august, do you think this will hinder my goals?

TIA :)

P.S This color, and Beyonce and I have just about the same skin tone

I don't have much to add, except that when I was relaxed I still wore blonde hair, but I was not a frequent relaxer but I think that helped. Be sure to dc with every shampoo and keep the moisture and protein balance. I would texlax my hair every 3-4 mos so coloring was never a problem and still very healthy, thick, and shiny and would grow fast. ***btw: Your hair looks gorge in your profile pic. I love black hair**** although I'm brown right now, thx to the Dh and thinking about going a little lighter before I go back to black. Imma get it out HIS system, lol.

I honestly really would bleach your hair, buy a wig!

Seriously, bleach is already harmful on AA natural hair then you have another chemical on your head!:nono:

mhhmmm bleach is harmful on any hair type if it is doubly processed. If I were you I'd find a great colorist ( black or white that know their stuff,) I've had blonde highlights before but it wasn't done with bleach but with a colour that had peroxide as a developer, my hair was fine and doing great until I switched relaxers (fault of mine not stylist)

I say do it, as long as you and your stylist know how to properly care for your strands to maximise health, length and lusciousness . I don't see why you shouldn't, but make sure you do you research, don't take anyone's word for it unless you can back it up! Also check out Traycee's youtube channel she is doubly processed and she has a wonderful head of hair, but she didn't go as light as you'd like to.

P.S

Just to stress. Do no do this if you do not understand;

Moisture and protein balance,
pH Balance
Porosity
Or if you have a tendancy to be lazy with your hair regimen, otherwise you may regret it. Healthy hair be it coloured relaxed or natural should be your focus.

I'm texlaxed with naturally sandy hair. The sun lightens it considerably in the summer time. During the winter months I'll use one of African Prides Hi-Light kits. It's a great product.

During my teens and twenties I experimented with hair color and jacked my head up almost every time. Rinses and highlights are all I care to do now.

I had blonde highlights a few years ago and they broke my natural hair off. I ended up having to get all the dyed hair cut off and lost a years worth of progress. If my natural hair couldn't hold up to the bleach I know my relaxed hair wouldn't make it.

BlondeByDesire has posted about her color a few times. You may want to search for her posts.

I also remember somebody posting about using a luminizer to lighten gradually.

I remember reading somewhere on here that you color relaxed hair, not relax colored hair. You'll have to be very precise when you touch up.

In high school my neighbor dyed her SL hair blond (she was relaxed). Eventually her hair broke off to EL and her hair looked even worse when her natural color started growing in. It was a nightmare :nono:

@hysi thanks so much for the compliment :)

and thank you all for the advice I'm still undecide but if I do it I am definatly do my research and find a good stylist.
