It made my hair as crunchy as chips! Good thing it only cost me $2.79

Hits - seems like the only hit idea I had this month was to stick to what works, my old stuff...

Breakthru shampoo - the only non SLS shampoo in my area. It hurts to pay 7 bucks for that little thing but its the only shampoo I trust and that won't dry my hair out so it's worth it.

Elucence MB (gives me GREAT body and feel when I use it as a leave in before twisting)

Carefree curl gold- Still giving me baby softness

Good ole Kemi Oyl Shea Butter Pomade - only product that is good for my thick freshly washed hair.

Elasta QP feels like silk liquid gel seems to be a nice alternative for light hold.

Redken all soft heavy cream smells soooo nice to me, but I need so much of it to give me good slip

Other than that it seems like an ok conditioner, not sure if i'll buy it again for the money.

Miss - John Frieda Relax Daily Moisturing Cream - Made my hair want to puke! The way it was acting after I put it in my wet hair, I think it did...

Kemi Oyl 100% pure african shea butter - it just sucks as a pomade substitute...I need to stock up on my good stuff!

Neutrogena's little facial clensing circles (ok I know it's skin)...stinks and for the dollar I saved I need to stick to clean and clear

No real hits because there's really nothing new. I will reaffirm the greatness of my Jilbere ceramic flat iron, though.

Dove for co-washing (I don't know if it's the product or if I'm simply not using enough)

Tres Semme conditioners for co-washing (they may have been on sale, 2 for $5, but I want that money back! No slip, no great smell, and it made my hair crunchy, which is a no-no!)

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil - currently using Garden of Life brand
I think this oil is the "one" for me for moisturizing along with water .....it is light and does not weigh down my hair which I suspect other oils were doing such as EVOO and Hot Six Oil.

I've been off the PJism for a little bit..I was actually pretty low on my supplies, I can't believe it myself..

So the week before last, I had to refill on the staples but I did manage to purchase a new conditioner that I was interested in..

I bought Tropical Aloe Vera and I really really liked it. The consistency of the conditioner is smooth but thick..It went into the hair shaft very well and I really liked that. It rinsed well and made my hair really soft and smooth. My roller set came out really well also.

I just want to point out that this particular Tropical condr is made in Brooklyn not DR and the label says that it is the "original Tropical conditioner" (don't know how true it is tho)..Also it's a smaller white tub with green letters, which is a little different from the Tropical conditioners I usually see in the stores.

I tried out a combination that never occurred to me before and I have stronger hair to show for it!

I mixed:
Cathy Howse's Deep Conditioner
with:
GPB

I don't know what it is about this combination, but I am definitely combing out less hair and my hair actually has elasticity! I love it. I am sitting with it on my hair right now under the dryer. Anyone having an issue with dry, brittle hair may want to give this combo a try. Don't forget to follow up with a moisturizer as this is a protein treatment,(fairly mild).

Also, after going through trauma with an accidental applicaton of permanent color (Textures and Tones), I have been stuck with having to use temporary color, namely Beautiful Browns by Clairol. Beautiful Browns is a mess to use and washes out after one, yes, I said ONE wash! I had a bottle of Clairol Loving Care in the closet and had run out of the dreaded Beautiful Browns, so decided to use it instead. You can get this in the grocery store, drugstore, Walmart, wherever. It washes out quickly also, but not nearly as fast as the Beautiful Browns, maybe in three shampoos, for me. Also, whereas Beautiful Browns never rinses clean, meaning there is always a tinge of color in the rinse water, Loving Care rinses clean! The coverage is excellent as well. So my list of hits are:

[*]Kenra Intensive Emollient conditioner [*]Last but not least, L'Oreal Nature's Therapy Curl Defining Cream - I like this one because it has given definition to this amorphous, almost-frizz, not straight/not coily/not wavy portion of my newly "relaxed" hair.

It does what it says.

The Curl Defining Cream has the same thick, creamy consistency as L'Oreal Unfrizz Taming Creme and no noticeable smell (to me). I glopped it on my dripping wet hair to air dry, and it immediately soaked in. I combed my hair with my seamless "bone" resin comb to insure the product distributed more or less evenly through all of my hair and then left it alone. My hair had definition while it was still in that wet-not-quite-damp stage but retained the same defintion after my hair had completely dried...which isn't bad since I now (yay!) have thick hair. Many products I have tried in the past make my hair look good while drying but don't work as well once my hair is dry (I have found this especially with hair gel mixed with leave-ins...makes my hair look and feel crunchy).

It gave me the loosely-curled, wavy hair that I had hoped for (but repeatedly did not experience) with John Frieda's RELAX product, "Ripple Effect, Wave Maker" which not only failed to make waves but also dried my hair out to the point of feeling like straw.

By comparison, L'Oreal's Curl Define Cream, left my hair still feeling moisturized after a hot (to me, that's 80 degrees farenheit or above) and windy day.

It costs the same as the Taming Creme, and is the same size. I can see myself going through the tube quickly if I continue to CW frequently. Because of that, I will either return to mixing Blackstrap Molasses into my conditioners (similar frizz-busting effect, yummier smell - like ginger snap cookies

), or I will try out one of the cheap brand knock offs of John Paul Mitchell's The Conditioner. I would use the Curl Defining Creme again but for the price. [/list]
