Aphogee treatment & the moisturizer

Hi all,

I'm going to try the Aphogee treatment and moisturizing balance conditioner that comes with it after I get a touch-up tomorrow. I bought a one use kit (small shampoo, treatment & conditioner). I was too chicken to buy the whole set in case I didn't like it.

Now my question is after I rinse out the treatment and apply the moisture balance conditioner, how long do I leave it on, and can I use it with heat without any bad effects?

PS - I will follow the directons to a T! I must have read the directions about 5 times last night so I wouldn't skip a beat.

Have you used this treatment system before? I am almost positive that is says how long to leave in the moisturizer on the back of the moisturizer, the shampoo or the treatment bottle. I don't think it was for very long and it should be o.k. to use with heat. One word of caution to you, however, is I tried to use this after a perm and it burned! I waited 2 weeks and tried it again. It definitely stopped the breakage and I am doing another one next week which is 6 weeks later. I am glad you brought this up because I was wondering if it were better to use before relaxing or after.

It says to leave on 2 minutes and I know darn well that is not long enough to leave on after a protein treatment.

Could you add it with another moisturizing conditioner and leave on longer possibly without heat?

Hi Crysdon,
I have a question for you, where did you buy the small kit? It sounds more economical. I can't remember how long the hairdresser had me under the hairdryer when she put in the moisture balance conditioner, but i think it was like 10-15 minutes. Tell us how it goes!

butterfly-My hairdresser used the Aphogee treatment approximately 2 weeks after my relaxer. If I were you I would always do it two weeks later, its probably a little to strong (that's why it burned) for the hair for the first wash after the relaxer, you know.

I have used after a relaxer and it did burn. I put the protein treatment on until it dried, rinsed, then applied the moisture balance conditioner - I left on for at least 30 minutes without heat. Good luck.

Islandgirl,

I bought mine at a beauty supply store called Mid-K. It is very economical, it only cost $1.97 and it comes in the same package that samples come in. I already have a big bottle of the conditioner, so I can always apply more of that if it doesn't seem like there is enough.

I think I'll wait the 2 weeks after the relaxer since there is more than one person who says it'll burn immediately after.

Thanks for the advice!!!

I've used their moisturizing conditioner after the protein treatment with heat and left it on for 20-30 minutes in the past. I had no problems. I've also used Elucence instead of the aphogee conditioner with no problems that I saw.

I did the Aphogee treatment last week, a week after my relaxer touch-up and it didn't burn so I'd say wait a week. I never use the conditioner from Aphogee I use the Elucence MB conditioner or Motions CPR.

Thanks Kenesha,

So glad I asked for advice first. I can just imagine looking like

after I apply Aphogee to my freshly relaxed hair.

Yep.

If it touches your scalp it will probably burn. So, I would until the next shampoo or use something else.

Wait a sec. Are you talking about the Aphogee treatment for damaged hair or the 2 minute reconstructor? I've used the 2 min one right after a touchup and it didn't burn. The moisture conditioner did nothing for me so I had to break out the Elucence conditioner. I guess I could imagine it burning if your scalp is already sensitive though. I will make note of that if it happens to me.

I had been using this treatment since September of last year. I know the directions say to use it every 6 weeks but I had been doing it the first Sunday of every month.

I just realize that it was helping me to retain my hair alot more than I realize. It's really great!

I apply it to my hair and pile it up so it does not stick on my back or around my face. I then sit under a hooded dryer for about 20 minutes, most times it still is not dry, so I allow it to air dry. It takes about 45minutes to an hour to dry completely. Then I rinse carefully because it drys very hard. After this I apply the moisture conditioner and allow it to sit for 30 mintues. I know it says something like 3 minutes but I leave it on longer.

I love this treatment and will do it tomorrow.

Good Luck!

Crysdon. It may not seem long, but I'm sure it's formulated to work with the treatment. I would follow the instructions if it's your first time.

And do think about wating at least a week after the relaxer.

No I don't think it is. Aphogee products are not only for relaxed hair. They are formulated for all kinds of hair. I use their shampoos and their conditioner on a regular basis.

I think these posts were referring to those that do use it and are relaxed. As you can see, everyone cautioned the original poster not to use it after getting a fresh relaxer.

Drea!
Hi!
No the aphogee is not for relaxed heads only...as a matter of fact..this is what I used to help me loose less hair4 as I transistioned form relaxed to natural the last time I did it. It is excellent for bringing breakage under control!

Is this product exclusive to relaxed heads only?

God bless you all.

UPDATE:

I absolutely love the Aphogee Treatment.

I followed the instructions to a T and I waited one week after my touch-up (like everyone told me to...thank you Ladies

).

My hair got hard like a helmet and I didn't manipulate it one bit. I rinsed it out with no problems. I mixed one teaspoon of EVOO and 5 drops of WGO to the Aphogee Balancing Moisturizer and applied to my hair. I sat under the dryer for 5 minutes and left it on for another 20 minutes without heat.

My hair came out very strong and supper soft. I added the oils because I read on some other posts that some of you didn't like the treatment and it made your hair hard even with the follow-up moisturizer. This is definitely a keeper.

Now that I'm finished raving about this stuff, why didn't anyone warn me about the smell?

My son asked me, (his words exactly) "did somebody just take a dump? It smells like doo-doo all over the house." My cat, who usually likes to sit and watch me wash my hair stayed the heck away from me this time. This stuff makes WGO smell like strawberries and cream.

Hi Crysdon:

I have to agree with you on that one.

Because I still can't really tell what caused more hair to come out several weeks, ago, I decided to go ahead and buy the aphogee. I knew that I was taking the chance of doing this treatment 1 week after a touch-up.

I must say that I am very impressed! Yes, it made my hair very hard, but I thought the moisturizer was ok. Maybe I'll add a little olive oil to it and maybe sit under the dryer with it.

I love it because my hair seems much stronger and healthier.

This is definitely a keeper. I now see why some others here use it every 6 weeks.

Crysdon,
I'm so glad this worked so well for you!

It does stink up to high heaven though and it always makes my hands sticky when I'm applying it...note to self: buy plastic gloves!

I have used both Aphogee and Nexxus Emergence and I prefer the Nexxus Emergence. I think I can do it every other wash and it still will strenghthen my hair without getting it too hard. And it doesn't smell too bad

I cannot rave about this product -- Aphogee Treatment for Damaged Hair -- enough. I used it every 6 weeks, plus I used DRC-28 once per week to resolve breakage issues I had. These were the only things that worked for me.

My hair used to fall out to the touch but the Aphogee/DRC-28 combination helped me to lose less hair.

I have not been able to find the Aphogee Evening Primrose shampoo locally so I've had to use other non-aphogee shampoos but the results were still stellar for me.

I hope this helps.

I do the treatment, rinse, put on the balancing moisterizer+keratin + cholesterol and sit under a heating cap for 30 min. My hair always comes out stronger, but very soft.
