I've heard some scary stories about this stuff. Hair tangle, matting together and such. Who's had a bad experience with this product? Any tips on using it?

I used it twice.

The first time I applied it (It's SUPPOSED to get hard, but you are not supposed to touch it) It gets really brittle. Anyways, after rinsing it out and deep conditioining, my hair didn't feel bad. The breakage didn't stop though.

So about a week later, I did another one. This time the breakage slightly increased for like 2 days, then went back to what it was before. Also, even after rinsing the hell out of my hair, there was still some left in one spot. It didn't hurt the hair there or anything though, I just rinsed it out again... which I may add was really hard to do!

I woudn't try it again.

It didn't do anything really bad to my hair, just didn't work.

I'm happy now, the hair that was damaged and breaking is gone, and I don't need the stupid treatment anymore. :)

When i tried it, unfortunately it did nothing for my breakage. It got slightly crisp while drying, but nothing serious.

Did the crispiness make your strands break?

I've had 3 of these all together, 2 of which I did myself.

When the stylist did it, it didn't work, but that was b/c iron was my issue, not protein. That was early 2004.

The first time I did it myself, it worked like a DREAM!!! It was so wonderful. It made my hair strong & heavy. I followed with 2 deep conditions and when I finished my hair was both strong and moisturized. It was just what the doctor ordered...

The second time, it didn't work at all, and again, I'm having iron issues, not protein issues. I think the cause of the shedding has to really be mechanical & not internal in order for this product to work properly.

As far as usage, I allow it to get hard completely and then rinse. Like Porsche said, you have to rinse completely. I use a couple of cups of diluted poo to get it all out b/c I didn't want any residue. Then I followed with my con cocktail. I didn't have a lot of tangling and I have no matting. In fact, I remember detangling being a little easier b/c my hair was "heavier" and there was no hair coming out in the comb.

I think it's really great for curtailing breakage from overlapped relaxers etc. I'm taking it out of my regular routine and *hopefully* I won't need to go back to anything heavy. If I keep up with my mild proteins (i.e. Keraphix, GPB) then everything's cool.
Hope this helps!

I had the same experience using this treatment. I had heard good things about the 2min reconstructor from the same co and tried it. It worked a lot better and was easier to use. I now use the reconstructor weekly and it has really helped, to the point that I am suffering from shrinkage, but my hair is longer, stronger and has elasticity!

I use to use this and I don't use it anymore since I had a bad exeprience. I used aphogee for a while and then the last time I used it, it turned on me. It made my hair so dry and rough, so I no longer use that stuff.

I use it every 6 weeks, so far from what I can see it helps me big time. I just put it on and let it dry with the handdryer rinse out and condition my hair. The only part I hate is the way it drips down ur back, it will be to your benefit to get in the shower and rinse out it'll stay on the back of your neck idk if length has anything to do with it.

I've been using Aphogee for Damaged Hair and honestly, I don't think it's working for me. I'm thinking about finding another protein treatment for my hair. My breakage has been persistent since I started my healthy hair journey. I thought it was something *I* was doing wrong, but now I'm thinking it's because Aphogee isn't doing what it's supposed to.

I saw another thread about using Emergencee in the same way Aphogee is used (sitting under the dryer until it gets hard). I'm going to try this the next time I do a protein treatment since I've got two bottles of Emergencee lying around.
