sometimes it works really well... other times it does hardly anything. Am I doing something wrong or do I need smthg stronger?

I don't think there's anything much stronger than Aphogee.

What sort of hair problems are you trying to correct with the Aphogee?

I have had nothing but bad luck when it comes to Aphogee! I am too afraid to try it again, as I believe it made the breakage worse.

I had this problem before, and I noticed that when I didn't let my hair harden/dry completely it wasn't as effective. Are you letting your hair completely dry before rinsing it out?

I am just trying to use it as a regular protein treatment. I just want to use it to strengthen my hair and to improve the overall appearance of it.

I never clarify. Maybe this is my problem. Or am I doing them too often sometimes? but the last one that i did was like atleast 4 weeks ago and I just got a relaxer retouch last week. I am not sure if the treatment that she gave me after my relaxer had protein in it. It was a dominican salon.

I recently did the BC (6 weeks ago) and just used apoghee for the 1st time as a natural; it didn't work as well as it did when I had a perm.
I don't know if it works better on permed hair vs. natural hair. But, this was my experience. I'll try a new protein treatment.

Also, don't forget that it shouldn't be used more frequently than every 6 weeks and let it try completely before rinsing.
In fact, I don't think I let it dry completely in the roots before I rinsed.

My last Aphogee treatment didn't help much either. I'm still experiencing breakage. The first couple of times my hair was noticably stronger. I could pull on a strand and it not break. This past time was a bust.

My hair is colored treated and I have to do a protein treatment once a week. Does this mean I have to clarify before each time i get a protein treatment? Ive had a bad experience with clarifying and dont want to do it again. Do I have to clarify or is it best to clarify before protein treatments???

Poohbear: I've asked this question re: clarifying before but have found no difinitive answer (as with most things, it's individual and what works for you). I have 4b relaxed and I just DON'T clarify because they leave my hair way too stripped and dry. Plus, I don't use stuff with 'cones, pomades, oils and other dressings on my hair and therefore don't have the buildup that someone might. I think clarifying really for those who use tons of stuff on their hair in between washings. If you don't, then a regular shampoo will get your hair clean.

BTW, some say that conditioners "work better" after they clarify -- I wonder if that's because hair is so stripped and dry that conditioners have no choice but to sink in their and replace all that lost moisture? Just a thought.

every 4 weeks... I follow up my clarifying poo with a moisturizing poo, then I protein it up

Thats what I noticed when I first sarted using aphogee, you have to make sure it gets completely dry.

I think I just want something different. Maybe somethign a little stronger that I know will work well on my ends.

No, Nikki 319. I think they're talking about the Aphogee Treatment for Damaged Hair. That's the one that makes your hair hard. The 2 minute reconstructor is a much milder protein conditioner.

Yay,thank you for answering my question1 I saw the Damaged Hair one and I thought I better let a professional do that one for me...
