Aphogee 2-Step - Protein does wonders

Just felt like posting something...

I did an 2-step treatment last night after watching Taren (on Youtube) do her treatment and seeing how her curls came back to life. My hair has been feeling a bit weak lately and my last blowdry was a disaster.

I called the famous Reneince and scheduled an appointment for my first professional hair trim/cut in almost 4 years. I am excited to go to her but EXTREMELY nervous because I have a general distrust for stylist. She made me feel comfortable and said lets just start with a consultation and go from there.

I dont want to go there with weak hair so I decided to do the 2 step. Its messy but the results are sooo worth it.

I had one broken hair (my own fault of tugging my hair) and very minimal shedding. I am not a huge shedder but this stops shedding almost completely. My hair feels thicker and stronger. I followed up with a sleep conditioning (overnight DC).

YAY for Aphogee

Thank you for the review.... I feel this is what i may be lacking in my reggie. When I take my cornrows out I will do a 2 step. My only concern is I do hennas and powders so I get confused on when to do what treatment so I will not get protein overload. Do you have any suggestions?

IDK why, but I am terrified to try this stuff. And my hair loves protein. I needa quit being such a baby and just try it already. So glad it worked out for you!!

The bottle says every 6-8 weeks so I suppose you can alternate henna one time and the 2 step another or just apply henna to your roots when you do it? Just judge on what your hair feels it needs and make sure to DC plenty too.

I use the 2 minute and the green tea leave in mist regularly...haven't tried the 2 step though. Maybe I'll add to my wish list, thanks!

Okay... I'm sold..on the Aphogee. Will be ordering that.
PFAB.. I can't wait to see your Reniece results.. it's gonna be even more beautiful!!!

I bet Reniece can't BEAT THEM away after mwedzi's pics... I'll try to get in some time after I'm waistlength.. in 2012.. or 2013.. lol..

I only did the two step once when I was relaxed in early 2008, my hair didn't feel any better but I believed I had a moisture issue not a protein. I still have the bottle and I wonder will it still be any good also will my natural hair will like such a hard protein? I might just buy another one and do the treatment when I remove this weave.

It smells like eggs gone bad but it's alright but I can't use it all the time. My hair is pretty temperamental about protein so I can't use it all the time else my 4a/4b hair gets rock hard.

I use it every 6 weeks. I have heat damage and it's slowly helping my hair rebuild. Love it!

Hey girlie, I understand that. I suggest using this

I found it yesterday and it help me understand when to use what product and under what condition for my hair.

It did work. As long as you stay on top of moisture for a few days following you should have no problems. And oh a good and long DC right after.

Just bought another bottle this morning. This product is regular for me. My hair is SO soft after a treatment.

I just brought two packets but I guess I'll invest in a full bottle. I think this is needed for me now. My hair gets weak after a while now. I do alot of moisture and not enough protein.

DC is the key. :yep:

I LURVES my stankin Aphogee!

Still loving your siggy hair.

It smells so bad. I only used it once. Is there a comparable less stinky product?

The smell goes away after a good smelling DC.

I love the 2min. I need to restock. But the 2 step is hardcore. But your hair will be so strong after its crazy. As long as your hair doesnt react negatively to protein, it will thank you.

I am def going to be doing this next yr

For consistent breakage, go for the 2 step.

I'm actually right there with you...the combination of "For Professional Use Only" signs, long list of instructions, and concept of my hair being rock hard make me feel totally unqualified to do this! However, the rave over this stuff does make me want to try it.

It's great stuff. :yep:

For those nervous/unsure, EmpressRi (known as Richeau on youtube) has an awesome tutorial. I always follow her method when doing an Aphogee treatment and it's easy as pie.

That Keratin & Green Tea spray is also awesome. I've taken it with me the past two times I've gone to the Dominican salon to get a rollerset/blow-out and there's a DEFINITE difference in the outcome.

I forgot about my aphogee. I think Aphogee and me is like Jay-z's Song Cry. I moved on and forgot about my old Aphogee product line.

It's getting placed on the calendar to be used next week.

Emergencee by Aloxxi is a less smelly option.

Who is this reniece woman?! Is she in the DMV area?? I definitely need someone trustworthy to do my hair at some point in time...can someone give me a number or something?? thank you ahead of time!! :)

Yes, Aphogee works wonders. Youjust have to be sure to follow the directions and add the moisture back in.

Me too!

OP, you are the reason I even tried the green tea leave in. You did a product review a while back on it somewhere. I saw your results and have continued to use it ever since.

Oh yea? I dont remember that. I still have some green tea but I use mostly Chi Keratin mist now.

It smells like eggs gone bad but it's alright but I can't use it all the time. My hair is pretty temperamental about protein so I can't use it all the time else my 4a/4b hair gets rock hard.

I smells bad and its sticky and it drips. And because im WSL, it drips low :nono:

As much as i love the 2-step, i found that it tightened my curls even more which = to more breakage when combing despite applying gobs of moisturizing DC.

So i only stick to the 2-minute and henna for my protein fix.

I love aphogee too! My hair seems to love protein and I love how it stops any breakage instantly.

I did the 2 min primarily for a long time but the 2 step because necessary when you become a moisture junkie.

Honestly, I dont know why people are so scared of Aphogee/protien. If you use it at the right time and follow the directions, its a beautiful thang. :yep:
