I have a bottle of this sitting around and I am wondering how to best use it. I used to always just buy the tiny sample packets, but they don't contain enough conditioner for me, so I broke down and bought a bottle. I just had a touch up a week and a half ago and I'm thinking I should use this for my next wash. I think I'll either:

Use a small amount mixed with my Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol for some deep conditioning for 5 minutes under the dryer with heat, followed by a moisturizing conditioner.

or

I'll just use it in the shower for a few minutes followed by a moisturizing conditioner (Proclaim Aloe & Shea Butter.)

Typically my hair doesn't like too much protein, but it does like this conditioner. If you ladies who use it could chime in on how you use yours

with or without heat
and how many times a month

that would be great. TIA :D

Aphogee 2 min Reconstructor is mild enough to use weekly - I did this when I started my journey last year. Now I have so many other products it never gets used alone.

I have the Proclaim Aloe and Shea Butter. It mixes well with the reconstructor. I've also mixed Proclaim with ORS Replanishing Pak - that was very successful:)

I think mixing the 2 soon after a relaxer is a good thing:lachen:

i think Kinikakes said she had something on her fotki about how to use it if you wanna go check out her profile then her fotki

I use this every other week as a deep condtioner mixed with Elucence Moisture Balancing conditioner. It gives me just the right amount of moisture and strength. :)

Thanks guys for your help. I think I want to start implementing this as part of my regimen on a regular basis. The Proclaim Aloe & Shea Butter conditioner is great for moisture, and the Aphogee 2 min would provide excellent supplemental nutrients for strength. It's ingriedients are amazing: keratin, sulphur, nice oils and it smells so yummy too, kinda like a pina coloda. :lick:

I'm glad it works well when mixed with other things too. I can be a real mad scientist when it comes to mixing conditioning treatments. :brainy:

BTW how long do you guys leave yours on for? I know the bottle says 2 min, and 5 min for extreme cases. Have any of you deep conditioned with it mixed with a moisturizing conditioner with heat?

I use it in the shower right after my poo, right before my moisture treatment..

love the stuff :D

This sounds like a good way to use it. Typically I like to do deep conditioning treatments for 15 min or longer under the hood dryer. But I think that might be too long for this product, I don't want to OD on protein. So maybe I'll pre poo under the dryer, poo, and then use the Aphogee in the shower before my Proclaim condish.

I actually used the Aphogee 2 minute Reconstructor two weeks ago, mixed with what left I had of the Nexxus Emergencee...and I just let it dry on my head for like 15 minutes....

and I really liked the result:D . I didn't think I would like the Aphogee as much as I did...I was tempted to try out the Keraphix....but I think I'm just gonna play it safe with something I've found my hair agrees with.

I just picked up the Proclaim Aloe and Shea Butter from Sally's, so I'm going to try that combo this weekend. :)

That does seem like that would be a winning combonation... :scratchch

I plan on doing a pre poo made up in part with henna and that would need to be left on for at least an hour, I think that would be too long if I had the Aphogee mixed in there too, as it protein. I guess I'll save it for the shower. :)

I follow Carolyn Gray's 6 week regiment, and this is part of the old version of her regiment. I deep condition with Aphogee 2 min reconstructor in Week 1 after washing.

Do you ladies follow up with another conditioner after using this?

I do. I shampoo, use the generic paul michcells detangler, then I use the Aphogee. I let is stay on my head for 5 min, then I deep condition with Silk Elements Mayonaise conditioning treatment. After that, I rinse that out and put in a leave-in.

I have to admit though mixing the aphogee with the conditioner sounds like an idea I may try this weekend.

I'm thinking it would kill two birds with one stone, right?
Protein plus moisture,**BAM**, two needed elements at the same time.

*I might still slap a lil motions/ntm combo on it for five minutes or so after though...gotta easssssssse into it...*:look:

Tonight, I used the Aphogee 2 min. reconstructor mixed with the Proclaim Aloe & Shea Butter conditioner and I LOVED the results. I am so glad I broke down and bought a bottle of the Aphogee, those teensy sample packets jusdt didn't cut it. It so creamy and nice, it goes perfectly with the Proclaim. A match made in heaven! :p

I have a bottle of this in there somewhere but haven't gotten around to finding a place for it in my rotation...

Hey Mona....

:wave::wave:....Heyyyyyyyyyyyy Ms. Vixxen....I was JUST thinking about you...then I come into this thread...and there you are...

I just slapped the Aphoghee/Proclaim mix on my head...
I saw an area that got tangled from the poo'ing...so I slapped some NTM DDC on it to get it ready for detangling.

*realized I'm gonna have to touch up next week at 12 weeks..:ohwell: *

Vixxen.....I swear the Aphogee reconstructor has that Megatek type smell to me, reminds me of it...
