Hi everyone!

I see a new rave coming along: curl activators! I'd love to wear my hair out with a curl-defining product (the Miami heat is brutal for wigs :yep:) soon, so I'd like to see some examples of hair with curl activators.

Hey Amyrose...do you have any photos of your with the curl activator? I will try and post one tomorrow when I get my camera back...

My hair with curl activator looks the same as my hair w/o curl activator. Here's a close up of the strands:

And here's my 4B hair combed out after S Curl has been applied. I loved combed out afros so whenever I have S Curl on, this is probaby how you will see it:

I think that's because curl activators don't actually activate anything. They are just excellent moisturizers.

I wouldn't look to a curl activator if I was looking for definition. I'd try a styling gel.

I think they only activate curls on a different texture. I personally love my hair texture so have never wanted anything changed about it. Plus what is there to activate if the hair is already curly, yanno? I just love S Curl coz it doesn't feel greasy, it doesn't make my hair icky, and my hair stays moist for days without being gross to touch. It also makes combing my hair a breeze,

My friend in high school who was a mix of 1/4 Italian, 1/4 Ethiopian, 1/4 East Indian and 1/4 Saudi had hair down to her butt that looked black and straight as any Asian's. When she'd wet it, it'd get wavy but she always wore it in a long braid down her back so in my head, I always thought of it as straight coz she'd brush and brush and brush when it was wet so it'd dry straight. I honestly wasn't at all into studying texture so I'd swear it was straight, and she hated how heavy it was that it couldn't hold a curl from a curling iron. One day she decided to cut her hair behind her mom's back  ...to neck length. I remember I feared for her life when her mom'd find out. She just wanted a boyish cut, but one day she used my curl activator, (I had a jheri curl) her hair formed the cutest curls/waves ever. It seriously looked like she had a jheri curl. She'd apply it to damp hair and BAM curls would be activated. So for her CURL ACTIVATOR meant just that.

When I had a jheri curl, and I washed my hair, it'd hang somewhat wavy and could be brushed/combed straight-ish. But the minute I applied the gel and spray, the curls would be activated.

So perhaps hair that is straight but wavy when wet is hair that responds to curl activators?

It was working in my head, now it doesn't, maybe cause I'm using a diff spray activator. :ohwell:

Curl activators don't activate my curls-I only use it as a moisturizer...I must not have that "texture"...and I am perfectly fine with that!

I wish this product worked for me. I might try it again - maybe I'm using it wrong because my texture is similar to Mz Mo Mo . I'm considering trying it on my little one. Her hair is like a 4a and craves moisture.

Unfortunately I don't, plus I don't have a camera right now. But I'd love to post a pic as soon as I get the chance :yep:

These are my freshly co-washed pixie braids (no hair added) from last summer moisturized with long aid curl activator gel:

No pictures just a comment. I think the length of your hair will also react differently.
