Anyone using the Coconut Cream relaxer?

You mean like the video about it on youtube?

I saw that. Would not do anything for my hair but condition it. Which is what it looks like she did - condition it for manageability.

Not a traditional relaxer or texturizer.

Sorry if you meant something else.

Ok I tried the one from the video also. My hair had the same amount of shrinkage as it had before the coconut creme concoction but it did make it more combable. I was actually relieved it didnt take my coils away.

Did you finger comb it through the hair, or did you comb it through?

I didnt comb it, I just used my hands and worked it through thorughly, let it sit and 20 min later went through it again with my hands roots to ends. Put a plastic cap on for another 20 min and manipulated it again from roots to ends. I put the cap back on for another 20 min(I wanted to leave it in for at least an hour) manipulated it again and rinsed thouroughy.

Would you use it again?

Hey Yodie,

I saw that! Been thinking of trying it myself but maybe with the alterations mentioned in this thread: http://longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=167391

Hopefully, SamanthaJ will peek in. She had BEAUTIFUL results in her fotki. (also mentioned in the thread above)
Okay. Thanks. Seems like there isn't much out there to straighten natural hair without putting a chemical on it. I'll check out this link.

Howdy Ladies!!!!
:afro:

So -yea... I think the coconut creme thing may work well... The thing is - Yogurt and I don't get along anymore. I thint it is Too Strong of a protein for me.

Anyhoo - Coconut milk ( I think the Coconut creme would work too...) and LIME ( you need an Acid... IMO) Works Wonders for me!

NOw this is no - like six week miracle.... - I still have to flat iron, yada yada....But - This DID elongate my curls... and it has for MANY people.

Lactic Acid, Citrus acid, can do great things......

I have it in my fotki...
BUT - I will put the Bling up for you to See.....
:rocker:

Oh, my eyes!!! I'm blind, now, but it was worth it to see that shine! Beautiful, Samantha. Do it, gurl...

SJ, Thanks for the tips. I need to try to the coconut cream and the lime mixed together.

Why or why can't I be one of those ladies that can successfully wear a relaxer!

Oh, well.

Gurl, You don't need no relaxer...... Just do your thing........

i was planning on trying this when i update. my hair is extremely tight and i would like to see how this would work for me. I wanna try it and see whether it works on my hair or not. if not i get a nice natural conditioning treatment. my main motive for doing so is for more manageability like the video said.

I need to go find my shades and come back to read this thread, Samantha's hair blingin all over the place and stuff...:bling:

My hair is manageable, it does not knot on it self it just shrinks to high heaven.. when I braid it and let it dry, it stretches so nicely and easy and it's so soft, but I dare not let it dry in it's natural shrunken state or I am not sure what would happen in terms of tangles. I like my texture I would just like to get my coilys to loosen up just a tad, take a coily chill pill just a little bit. That would be cool.

I need to experiment with this.

What type of coconut cream are we using? I have only seen the milk in the stores.

Here's the youtube video of the products and process.
