I like the VO5 better for conditioning washes. The Suave left my hair a bit hard.
I wonder if that's because of the protein, its quite high up on the list. My hair has trouble with high protein.

Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Silk Amino Acids, Honey (Mel), Nettle (Urtica Diocia) Extract, Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Extract, Coconut (Cocos Nucifera) Extract, Potassium Chloride, Fragrance (Parfum), Distearyldimonium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Glycerin, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1, 3-Diol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Propylene Glycol, Methylisothiazolinone.

I tried it...but it didn't compare to me to my White Rain Tropical Coconut which is thicker and creamier with a higher concentration of actual coconut.

I hated it too..I tried the suave milk & honey and that left my hair feeling really hard...I also prefer VO5 over Suave.

I use it for my CW's...it leaves my hair soft...every product isn't for everyone, I guess :user:

Now I'm intrigued by the White Rain Coconut conditioner...the pj in me isn't gonna let me walk past it in the BSS :nono:

I actually like the Suave Tropical Coconut as well. :) It leaves my hair soft without feeling too weighed down. However, the Suave Milk & Honey that I've read rave reviews about left my hair hard and a little lifeless.

I know where I am, the Suave products are only $.97. On sale they're $.77. Maybe you can spare the dollar just to try it out and see if your hair likes it. Maybe not. Not sure how much you want to spend to experiment. But I'm glad I found out which cheapie agrees with my hair and which one does not. :)

I use suave tropical coconut for CW and preshampoo treatment. It made my hair soft but I like the DD gingseng boost for CW while I have a lot of new growth. I still use the the coconut conditioner for a preshampoo treatment.

I only use the Suave Tropical Coconut (as far as conditioners go) on my natural 4ish hair. I use it for CW, mixed in w/ my deep conditioners, sometimes w/ my Coconut Milk pre-poo and also in my moisturizing hair concoctions.

As you can see.....I like it ;)

I like the other tropical coconut much more.

Water,Cetyl Alcohol, Coconut Extract, Glycerin, propylene Glycol, Silk Amino Acids, Honey, Nettle Extract, Rosemary Extract, Cetrimonium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Fragrance, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone

This one has lots of glycerin and less protein. Even has a good amount of honey. It's much more moisturizing.

I use it. I was really surprised that for such a cheap conditioner, and not specifically formulated for detangling it really did a good job with my tangly hair. However, after noticing a protein in the first few ingredients (I believe it was wheat)I use it only to coat the shaft of my hair when I'm doing a clarfifying shampoo (roots) as to not strip my hair.

I liked the suave better than the vo5. my suave didn't have cones in it.
btw: Silk amino acids aren't exactly protein. they are the building blocks of it.

Thanks Anky. That's right, silk amino acids. Building blocks. I vaguely remember that from school. lol. I never really had a problem with Suave, but I've learned from lhcf to be weary of too much protein. I'm so glad we have some ladies on here with science backgrounds. I've been wondering too about Pantene because now all of their products are now fortified with protein, but I believe iit's amino acids too.

I've been using Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner since Lucia did the thread (a month or so ago) with the girl and all that waist lenght natural hair and it has been fabulous.

My hair is thick and curly and hard to comb through especially once those curls start to lock suave has made my hair easier to comb through. I welcome all other recommendation for light protein conditioners.

I like my suave better than VO5. V05 only dries out my hair, I use the Suave for my cowashes and it helps to detangle and smells yummy!
