Anyone Use Curl Activator Gel on Relaxed Hair?

If any of you use it, does it cause your hair to be crinkly? Or basically what are the effects? Please include your hair type. I am thinking of trying it to get more moisture in my hair.

I used the kind with aloe in it ....It was ok...I dont remember the name off hand but I can look for you when I get home from work...:)
 
On the advice of another poster, I recently tried adding World of Curls gel mixed with coconut oil to my airdried bun routine and it worked well. I must say that I did use other products (Giovanni Direct one time and MNT one time) as leave-ins along with this concoction.
 
I forgot to add that I am a type 4a/b and my hair was slicked bcak in a bun and then tied down with a scarf each time. The result was smooth moisturized hair. My hair can not be airdried loose. No matter how many products I use it will dry crinkly and dry and shed more.
 
thanks ladies. i am finding that now that i am approaching 8 weeks post relaxer, i cannot retain the same level of moisture, it;s like the new growth is sucking it all up.
 
Scurl! My hair literally drinks it all up, especially the coarser parts. I go through this one product sooo fast. This weekend I had to get the big ole 32 oz. bottle to refill my smaller bottles. Try adding a little EVOO to it for an extra treat. Im 13 wks. post relaxer and this moisturizer makes a helluva difference ;)

I thought it was just me....No matter how much I spray at night...its gone in the day time. Between this and Castor oil .....my hair has done wonders. I just ran out of another HUGE bottle, it lasted me only a month and I didn't even use it one week.

I guess I will try the gel to help with the front edges....they are looking a little frizzy as the day goes.
 
I started using s-curl gel about 8 years ago and my hair loved it, relaxed and transitioning, and hopefully natural too ;) I've only gone a year without relaxing but yes, when I relaxed on a regular basis I used their gel with good results. It slicked down my mix of 2c/3c/4a hair nice enough to wear in a bun or phonytail :yep:
 
I just started on my Scurl run... 3 weeks and counting...
I love it to death!!
I don't know how I've made it through without this...
In fact, I was barely making it without ripping out my dry hair!

Now, my hair is really soft and the back (which sucks up products like there's no tomorrow) is extra moist!!! :grin:
 
I use any cheap brand laying around. It is great on my relaxed hair. Seals in moisture without making my hair dry :yay:
 
So is this what you guys use to airdry your hair? Because i have been transitioning for a year and air drying my hair is a nigtmare.
 
I used it for a while w/great success. I loved the way it made my ponytail look :)

I ran out and never replaced it (the spray), but I remember it worked very well. Honeylemondrop used it on her hair which is why I tried it.
 
i've been using curl activator ever since i started this journey. i know my hair wouldn't be as long without it. i use other products along with it, but it's really the key to moisture for me. it doesn't leave my hair crinkly, but again, i use it with so much other stuff...
 
OK...maybe I'm confused are we talking about the bottle spray or the Clear GEL in a container?? Judging by the responses I'm not sure if everyone is answering the same question.
 
I am 4 a/b. I use Long Aid with aloe vera activator gel in order to keep my edges flat. I tie a satin scarf over my hair and sleep with it. It does cause a bit of build up but the moisture is worth it.
 
S-Curl kicks a$$ in my book. I don't know how I gotten by without this stuff. They need to release a gallon bottle because I go through this stuff like crazy and I'm a permie. Same deal when I was natural.

I use the Scurl No Drip activator in the white bottle with the blue writing & stripes. It's by Luster's and is a white, creamy, non-greasy product.

here is what i do after i wash my hair:

• apply monoi oil, which gives slip and helps with any stubborn tangles
• apply Elasta QP Recovery all over
• apply World of Curls activator/Fantasia IC gel mix
• smooth into ponytail for bun
• apply Vaseline to just my ends and braid
• put baggie and cutoff stocking on rolled up braid, and put scrunchies around it

it's actually been quite some time since i've used S-Curl (years). i prefer the heavier consistency of the World of Curls now...

I use both the bottle spray, and the blue gel in the silver and blue jar :yep:

I have no problems while airdrying thanks to these products and a good satin scarf :yep:

Which Fantasia IC gel do you use, Adrienne?
 
I use S-Curl No Drip Activator/Moisturizer and Citre Shine gel together and I'm 26 weeks post relaxer (but not relaxing anymore). I was wondering... can S-Curl Activator GEL be used as a moisturizer or is it just like any other gel??? :confused:

Also, I'm almost out of my S-Curl No Drip! I might try that World of Curls activator next. Is it more moisturizing than S-Curl No Drip???
