Anyone tried the Nioxin Line of salon products?

Hey all!

I'm wondering if anyone has tried the "Nioxin" line of products found in Sallys and Salons? The Shampoo and Conditioner are like 50 bucks and my mom purchased them a little while ago.

Her normally thin hair has a nice bounce to it after she washes with it, but it seems as though her hair now is being ravaged by the recent heat and humidity and has a weird kind of fly away look to it after a few days. Is this a poor product for african-american hair?

Has anyone tried it and had either good or bad experiences?

Thanks in advance!

I tried it once & my scalp felt good but I trashed it b/c the same stylist that wrecked my hair was the same one who recommended it to me. Once bitten, twice shy kinda thing :look:

A friend of mines love this line, the brown bottles, and she's natural. Even when she ventures off to Aveda or Mizani she always goes back to her Nioxin.

Plus alot of AA salon's use this product also. Give it a try and see if you like it, did they have any sample's? that way you're not stuck with big bottles of something you don't like.

I loved it when I was relaxed and it made my scalp feel really good. I have fine hair. I used the products in the white bottles. The really like the conditioner. It's called Scalp Therapy.

Thanks ladies! I'm going to recommend she try some serum or something to control the flyaways, maybe its not the Nioxins fault

I love Nioxin! My personal experience was great. I use several products from this line:yep:;Shampoo, conditioner and the recharging complex (vitamins). The vitamins made my edges grow strong & thick after being damaged from a relaxer. Go to nioxin.com and you can formulate your own regimen, specifically for your hair type.

i have used nioxin products for a long time. for me they work-no allergic reactions at all. it is very minty and smells nice to me. they have different brands for chemically treated dry hair, fine hair etc. they also have gels designed for flyaway hair. also, the follicle booster is good for balding spots and thin edges. there's a deep treatment hair mask that is good too.

pamela ferrell from cornrows and company introduced the product to me when i had SEVERE and i mean SEVERE hair loss. and it grew back in when i thought the damage from a relaxer was permanent.

it is expensive, but you can sometimes find the kits in trade secrets, or beauty max for a reasonable price ...usually the introductry kit is $39 which includes the shampoo, scalp therapy conditioner, and leave in treatment. the follicle booster is sold separately for about $20. the hair mask comes in a tube for about $12 and bigger bottles for $25.

also, i am natural - no relaxer. but it works on all hair types.
