Anyone tried cleansing oils for hair?

I saw the Ouidad Curl Recovery Ultra-Nourishing Cleansing Oil in Ulta today.

I'm familiar with cleansing oils used for the face, but this is the first time I've seen one for the hair.

Has anyone used the Ouidad one or a similar product? I ended up getting the regular Ouidad co-wash cleanser instead. This one intrigued me tho, lots of good oils in the ingredients. You can see the ingredients on Ulta's website. But the blurb on the bottle mentioned coconut oil and I passed as it makes my hair hard. Also the co-wash cleanser had far fewer ingredients and lighter scent (personal preferences)

Anyways Kerastase has one as well:

Would have to see the ingredients list. This DOES sound pretty cool but would need to see what all they're putting in it.

Side note: I have used Ayurvedic oils to cleanse my scalp but I follow with a shampoo to rinse out the actual oil.

"Technically" WEN can call itself a cleansing oil because it contains sweet almond oil. Maybe it's just a marketing ploy.

This product definitely looks more like the cleansing oils that you use for your face. A typical cleansing oil is a different type of product -- ingredients are oils and emulsifiers to help them rinse off easily. I wouldn't call Wen and the like cleansing oils at all.

How did the cowash cleanser work for you OP?
Not bad. I didn't follow the instructions of working in sections and all that. I followed my normal method for cleansing conditioners -- wet hair thoroughly, work in product well and add more water if needed, and rinse. The bottle said let it sit for 5 mins but I ignored that.

The Ouidad Curl Recovery Ultra-Nourishing Cleansing Oil has these surfactants as the first ingredients after water:

Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate
Sodium Cocoamphoacetate
Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine

So I am not sure why they are calling it a cleansing oil because it clearly has detergents in it. The Olefin Sulfonate is just as harsh of a cleanser as sulfates are, however the other two surfactants are a bit milder.

All of the rest of the ingredients seem to be conditioning agents, butters, oils and hydrolyzed protein. So it seems to be a conditioner that they have added detergents to, making it a cleansing conditioner or a conditioning shampoo, not a cleansing oil. That doesn't mean that it couldn't be a good product, just that they misnamed it probably to try to be different and charge more.

thanks for that.

I was thinking of using ayurvedic oils to clean my scalp and then use a standard shampoo for rinsing it all off. Then I saw some cleansing oils and thought it may be the best of both worlds.
