If so do you poke holes in it?
I can’t decide if the humid environment will promote hair growth or will it slow growth by depleting necessary oxygen for hair growth?
What do you ladies think?
I sleep with one on because I'm wearing braids and can't do the baggie method. I even tie my satin scarf on after so I don't have to get the crinkling noise while I'm sleep. I have not experienced any negative effects of doing this only positive. My braids and scalp are moisturized when I get up in the morning. I think this has helped me keep my length when I take the braids out.
I do sometimes as modified version of the baggie method. Instead of just concentrating on the ends--I'll put conditioner and oils in my hair and then sleep with the plastic cap on it.
I've done a few times and my hair is wet by the morning. I haven't done it enough to see growth results. There was a thread on it a while back, but I cannot find it.
Can anyone bump it? I think Den1 was one of the people on that thread.
I do and I love it! I apply Surge Plus 14 to my roots and massage. Then I part my hair in four sections and apply olive oil. Mmmmm...I put my "Jerry curl shower cap" on and lock in that moisture (drip drip) /images/graemlins/laugh.gif. In the morning I remove the cap and my hair is so moist it falls down on my shoulders. I put it in a lose bun. I don't poke holes in it. I really want to lock in the moisture and this time of year my scalp is so dry from the weather.

Thanks for responding ladies,
So do you think it could possible slow down growth

Foxybronx, I think it will promote growth. Your hair, especially your ends, will be nice and moist and should grow as a result. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
I sleep with a plastic shower cap when my hair is "thirsty". My hair gets thirsty when I don't follow my regime to the 'T', so the plastic cap is a quick fix. The only thing I didn't like was my hair felt wet as opposed to moisturized. I wear my bun everyday, so I didn't feel comfortable brushing my bun into place with my hair being wet. Maybe I should plastic cap it with other products or poke holes into the cap /images/graemlins/scratchchin.gif I also put my doo rag on over my plastic cap so the cap doesn't come off during the night...
I also sleep with a plastic shower cap when I feel the need to do an overnight deep conditioning treatment. I like the baggie method better though, because I get so warm from the plastic cap and it makes sounds that wake me up LOL
I put a towel over my pillow first and I do not poke holes in it.
I do it as the modified baggie system, I started it two days ago, in the evenings, I put a small bag, which fits very well over my head and I wear a scraf to bed and my flat twists and the ends feel very soft.
I started using this method when I saw Den1's progress with it (I don't poke any holes in it either). I like the fact that I wake up with moisturized hair...but even when sleeping in braids it tends to get tangled. If I have to go out early in the morning...I don't use this method because it is super damp when I wake up.
I do this sometimes when I have braids in my hair. I got the idea from Den1 who has beautiful hair. It works for me it really moisturized my hair so I'll stick with it. I don't suggest doing it when you have twistouts or braidouts as I found it made my curls droop /images/graemlins/frown.gif
I started doing it with oils on the nights before I'd wash my hair. It's like getting an 8 to 10 hour hot oil treatment and I love the way my hair feels in the morning.
