i remember my mother using it, and it was really good, my pakistani friend also used it alot, and she had hipbone lenght hair. :)

Maybe I should try this again :yep:

Haven't used it. I read somewhere that it is really good for the hair and have been considering trying it as an ingredient in one of my new products to come. Have to do some more research on it first though. I have seen it in the indian food store.

I added it to my scalp concoction a few weeks ago. I think it now consists of coconut oil, olive oil, mustard oil, MSM, aloe vera, castor oil, avocado oil, powdered rosemary...It does make your scalp feel warm. It will also clear your sinuses right up if you take a whiff of it (smile).

I've been using it for over a month and I must say I love it. It gives the scalp a nice tingly feeling. I was told by the Indian woman that it's great for dry hair and split ends.

Do you need to add heat to feel the tingle? I bought this and tried it once a few weeks ago. NO tingle :ohwell: Maybe my bottle was bad.

I use it mixed with coconut oil for my edges. I haven't felt any tingles though. Maybe I'll warm it tonight:grin:

I use it Ive used it for years and I love it...it does smell but no worse than amla to me.
it really helps the hair grow cuz it stimulates blood flow to the scalp.

Love it!

Its one of my staples

I don't heat mine up. I just add some amla powder to it. I usually keep it on for about a half hour.

Funny it doesn't smell bad to me. Just smells like mustard. Now to me the Amla smells worse.

So, about this tingling effect.... how does it compare to peppermint oil or rosemary oil? More, less or just about the same?

ETA: Is it a warm tingle; like the 'hot' in icyhot or is it a cool tingle like menthol/vicks/peppermint?

I bought some Ayurvedic producst and have no idea what to do with them lol.

I bought:

Amla oil
Ghee (but it's the cow stuff and not the ayurvedic so I might have to return it)
Amla powder
Shikakai powder
Reetha powder
Sesame Oil
Mustard oil

I want to make a brew, pree-poos etc.

I remember reading about mustard oil and have been meaning to try it for the longest time. It doesn't smell that bad to me, smells like mustartd. However, not the kind of smell I want to be rolling up at work with.

How do you mix it with Amla oil? What are your measurements and are you adding anything else to it? Are you making a paste and then rinse off on dry hair or on wet hair?

I just add about 2 ts of amla powder to the mustard oil and shake. no paste, it's still liquid (or oil). I apply it to dry hair (prepoo). HTH

I use it mixed with shea butter for my edges. The smell reminds me of wasabi, which makes sense seeing that they are in the same family. You can also use it as a therapeutic massage oil. I wouldn't use it for sensual massage, though! The sting could seriously ruin the mood!!! :lachen:*not from personal experience, mind you* :lachen:
