Anyone ever had success with Verifen/Wanakee?

From my search I see this topic was widely discussed a few years ago, but I'd like to hear some up to date voices on the topic.

I have a patch of hair in the back that's intensely dry...I've tried all the best: Silicon Mix, Kenra MC, Nexxuss, Humecto ect and it just seems to be getting dryer as the winter goes on.

I was thinking about trying the Verifen line...maybe just the conditioner and poo at first and if I was really impressed the entire line. I was wondering who has had success with this line. What was your experience Good/Bad and why did you stop using it (or do you still use it?)

Thanks

Thanks for starting this post 'cause i was wondering about this line also. I saw some the before and after pictures on their website and i was really amazed. Pricewise, i don't know if i would've gotten it though.

I wasn't that impressed. I can't remember but I think I sent the shampoo back. I sent one of the items back. The conditioner was okay. I have sensitive skin and the shampoo and conditioner had just to much perfume and fragrance for me. Now I did like the Constant Care for the Ends and the Hairline Essential Creme alot.

I had the poo and conditioner and the hairline cream I tossed both in the trash before I joined the boards. They didn't do anything to cond or soften they just sat on my hair and made it dry and heavy but I have seen naturals on this board with my hair type that love some of their products.

I have a bottle of the oil for the hair and a jar of constant care for ends in my closet I wasn't a fan of them either. I haven't tossed them because I
have family members that have hair that seems to like what my hair hates so I may pass it on to them but the poo and cond would've been too heavy for their hair because it was heavy on my hair and my hair is thicker than theirs.

The most helpful thing about the Wanakee system for me was the info about daily moisture on the ends and protective styling but I didn't like the products :ohwell:

I used this when I was relaxed/pressed and the best part of the line was the Constant Care for Ends. That stuff worked very well for me.

Now, it didn't do anything when I went natural, so I let it go, but my mom (who presses and colors) tried it and she still orders it to this day.

So that's been about nine years for her. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for the responses...bumping for more imput. I find that someone with the exact same hair type as me can looooooooove a product and I try it and it does nothing and visa versa. So I guess the only way to REALLY REALLY know is to try it and keep the reciept. But I am interested in hearing more experiences about this product line so keep posting ladies.

I actually have a friend who has used it for years and raves about it. She loves the Constant Care for Ends the most. She started out at a chin length bob, and it has been almost a year, and her hair is almost to her bra strap now, and it's all one length and GORGEOUS. Her whole family used to use it, and she even uses it on her neice.
I didn't have as much luck with it though, but it works well for her.

I used it for ten years. I stopped two years ago, because I'm using natural products for a while; however, I still have a lot left. I'm going to start using it again. I highly recommend it.

Incidentally, my pictures are featured on the website. I'm Barbara from Beverly Hills.

I missed this post. You look beautiful Barbara!!

As I mentioned in this thread, I've used Constant Care for Ends for a long time and I love it. I also have the Verifen Hair Oil but I'm not sure how to use it, so it's been sitting on the shelf for a while. It's "oil" but not really an oil. Have you used this oil? If so, how are you using it?

Yes it's me. I'm now at waist length, and I still don't use it consistently; for example, I only oil my hair once a week--if I have time. I don't get my hair washed every week, and I still see results.

However, I had only planned on using it for one year (just to give it a chance). If my stylist didn't see any results, then I was going to stop ordering it. He didn't start seeing results until the seventh month (and I only go to the salon every two weeks).

Thank you Isis. Your hair is fabulous! As far as the oil is concerned, I have to divide my hair into small sections in order to saturate the hair since I only oil my hair once a week--each Sunday evening. I pour it on the tip of my fingers; then I spread the oil from the roots all the way down to the ends--and that is, if I have time. Then I massage Constant Care for the Ends on the last three inches of my hair.

And thank you for explaining how you use the Hair Oil. Hmm... just once each week? :scratchch Somehow, I thought it was used daily. I do use the Constant Care for the Ends daily on my last three inches of hair and as you know, it really works to maintain the length. I'll find a way to work the Hair Oil into my regimen.

About 4 years ago, I used all the products faithfully for about 10 months or so and I did retain a lot of length. My favs were the Detangling Spray Conditioner - I never had any hair in the comb when I would detangle- and the Constant Care For Ends (CCE)- I still use sometimes.

I used to get my hair relaxed every 5 weeks and there was a period that I was using CCE and my hairdresser did not trim my hair for 15 weeks- even after I asked her to b/c she said it didn't need it!

I, too, experienced good results with the system. I went from short hair to BSL in 2 years or so. I was in college & much older than most students so I wasn't caught up on appearance. I wore a silk scarf everyday for about a year, never really exposing my hair to air. I would wash & cond once a week & put the Constant Care on my ends. Daily I would take my scarf off & oil my hair. My ends were perfect - never needed a trim & my stylist used to get so annoyed b/c everytime I did a touch-up I insisted on a trim - which I know now I definitely didn't need. The healthiest my hair has ever been was due to this system. Now I wouldn't buy the entire line anymore but I do know that putting your hair away & keeping it moist does equal retention. I did a longer testimonial on another Wanakee thread that I saw on here a few days ago.

Thanks for your review. I read the other one too. I have been interested in these products for a long time but I have never used them. I either here that they are okay but too expensive or they are absolutely great. I might have some hook me up with a Wanakee gift so if I don't like them then I won't feel like I wasted my money.
