Anyone ever get impatient waiting for their prayers to be answered?

There is one prayer in particular I keep talking to God about and I know within myself that this is going to take time to be answered. I've asked the Lord to keep my eyes and my heart open whilst he does his work, and to help me not be so impatient. It's so hard, like a big kid waiting for Christmas Day, is there anything I can do or read in the bible to keep me patient and more importantly faithful that God will deliver. I know he will, i'm just a big fidgety kid that wants her present now. Even though I know I have to wait and it'll be worthwhile.

Yes Diva,

Sometimes He will have us in waiting for a while and with good reason. Though we probably won't understand the reason at the time that we have to wait. There are good days and difficult days while waiting on a prayer to be answered.

I have an EXCELLENT book recommendation. It's written by my pastor (not trying to be a pusher!) and it's his first and only book. It took him a good 4 years to write it. It's called May I Have Your Order Please. Throughout the book, it uses the theme of a fast food drive through to compare to how the prayer process works. It talks about how some things are "Special Orders" and you may have to wait even longer for those requests.

If you go to www.ibocjoy.org you can kind of check out more about it. :)

Girl, yes!! You are not the only one in the world that has gotten/gets impatient on the answer for prayer. When you start feeling anxious about the request, just say you are gonna trust God and know that His will is perfect for you and His will will be done. There's a scripture in the Bible ( I believe it's in Phillipians) that instructs us to be 'anxious for nothing but in everything, through prayer and thanksgiving, make your requests known unto God. And the peace of God that transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.' Keep the faith, Diva!!

Thank you ladies, I've had my cry tonight, but I've taken it to the Lord. I feel better now. SG I surely will check out that book. Thanks again.

I get impatient but I always remember that God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that he should change his mind. So if He said it in His word, and we believe and act in accordance with our faith, I don't care how long it takes, He's got to get us through, He might not get us out, but He will take us through the storm, otherwise he wouldn't be God. I've been impatient in small things as well, I failed my driving test this week (4th time) and I was so disappointed and I cried to God, but He has reminded me to be patient, to persevere and not to complain about it. I remember after my first test, you told me to keep trying because you had a few attempts but you finally made it, and I've always remembered your encouragement, so now, I hope you will take your own advice!

Set some others goals or things you want to achieve pray on them and move forward. This will help you keep busy. Also, enjoy yourself and your talents take time out to enjoy the things you love and utilize your talents to help others. :)

One thing that has helped me is reciting these particular scriptures. They help me alot and give me alot of peace.Everything God has for us is worth waiting for.

Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing
James 1:4

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Phillipian 4:6-7

I have such an insurmountable amount of peace in my heart after putting these scriptures in prayers. And it works everytime.

Our gift of being able to go to him in prayer is an answer in itself. As you stated your faith that he will answer your prayer is also your answer. "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whoes mind is stayed on thee: because he trusth in thee"

He will answer the prayer in his time, in his way and for his purpose.

I used to be impatient when I was younger but after learning that God answers to our prayers is based on whether it is His will or not made me think twice about my attitude towards answered prayers. God answers are either "Yes" (if it's his will), "No" (if it's not his will) or "Maybe"(if it's in his will in the future). So now, I just wait and be patient for an answer after praying to God. ;)

Girl.......this is the story of my LIFE! :lachen:

It's to the point where I just WAIT for the midnight hour like "Aight...I know God's gonna show up at the absolute last second." Of course it's always the "last second" according to my timing, but God's timing is ALWAYS perfect.....and looking back at when I've waited for the Lord, the timing is ALWAYS perfect. :yep:
