Well, anyone? I don't know what it is. Everytime I go to the grocery or a store I always find my way towards the haircare aisle. I love checking out the conditioners/hair masks and all the hair bands :giggle:

What I can't stand though (hate is such a strong word eh) is the ethnic section. Everytime I walk by, I give it a hard mean mug..like hard..

Murray Pomade, Lusters Pink Oil, Just for Me :nono: Du-rag and Hair bonnets omg lol. The marketing on these products is good though, I can't front. They make it sound so healthy. It just kills me to walk down that aisle.

LMAO!
YES!!!! And I hate the fact that we can't ever have products spelled correctly.
It's the only aisle that will list "nu" instead of "new," "gro" instead of "grow," "lite" instead of "light." Lol. I can't stand that!!!! I don't even go to that aisle anymore unless I am in need of a satin scarf.

i don't care for seeing the name "ethnic aisle"
and all that differs there is a jar of grease and a box relaxer w/ keisha cole on it

I thought it was just me! I really hate the grocery stores that only have the "ethnic haircare" aisle filled with hair grease, gel, curl activator and boxed relaxers!

YES! That and the ethnic food isles! :angry2: Heck, ditto to everything that's been said thus far....

:nono: I never noticed that before! That's so...insulting. I guess the ebonics is supposed to make us feel "at home".

i like murrays and durags:ohwell:

i dont buy my hair products at the drugstore anymore anyway

i can relate though. when i first came to hairboards and starting using "other" products i became hair sadiddy too:giggle:

They have good stuff in the ethnic food aisle that u won't find elsewhere in the supermarket. I usually swing by the ethnic hair section. I don't buy much but I like to make note of new products and it certainly doesn't bother me at all that there is a section.

i hate that isle just b.c. i know 80% of it is loaded with mineral oil and petroletum...and is gonna smell like a typical black hair product.

sigh

i think im just too spoiled with all the herbal essense, v05, and suave coconut fragrances. I mean...why can't they make those scents for us too. I don't wanna smell like pink oil moisturizer no mo

well i hate it because it is so small. except the target about 10-15 mins from my house, they have a whole ethnic aisle, i love it. they sell kinky curly, talijah wajiid , jane carter , and a whole lot more stuff. the first time i went in the aisle i was so excited. but all other stores are just like everyone said, so i always go to this target to get my hair supplies.

But what kills me is when I'm in the haircare section marketed to others and I'm the only black woman standing there looking at products standing next to the white woman and the other woman that looks like me is at the end of the aisle holding pink lotion in her hand.

I don't even like the fact they call that aisle "ethnic" but the other aisle is just "hair care," as if that is the norm...

I'm curious if that was Walgreens. I hate how they celebrate Black History month every year by showcasing products that allegedly cater to black people. Yet...99% of the products are owned by white people.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I don't mind the isle itself, but I can't stand the use of the word 'ethnic'...that old 'white default' mentality. Target is actually better than most. If you go on their website, they don't have an ethnic section. It says shop by hairtype, and then has coarse listed with products catering (or rather marketed) to black women. That's better than 'ethnic'.

I love Target :yep: :love3:

there is a reason why it says gro instead of grow. if it's for human use or something like that a doctor can only assess if it will cause growth. who has time to make sure that snake oil works? Might not make your hair grow...but it will make your hair gro.

I hate it too...except the Target ones! I just came from my local Target and they had Kinky Curly, Shea Moisture, and other stuff I had never even heard of before! And it's so brightly lit! I love that!

At the local urban target, they have this on an end cap so us bougie naturals can find it... :giggle: Everytime, I go up in there all the Kinky Curly Curling Custard, Knot Today and Shea Moisture Shampoos be gone. :ohwell: I KNOW it's one of y'all snatching all my goodies!

Oh and at the Target in Inglewood, they have braiding hair and weave. :look:
