Who here is through with:
challenges? New/old product raves?

Anyone else no longer gets excited about products that have worked for some or many? When you see these threads, do you go 'oh, that sounds nice! Next...'

I am done with bandwagons after all the money I lost last year. I found what works for me. Im done.

I do! I am so not a bandwagon jumper.
First off I'm a student and I dont have money to be flying into every hair store buying the entire shelve.:lachen:
Plus alot of these new challenges sounds like hard work or you buy it at an exclusive like store or online and I'm lazy and don't have time.

My hair seems to be doing find without all that stuff, and I'm just starting to figure out what works for my hair. I don't have the time to be going through products when what I have right now works.

I rarely jumped on any bandwagons. It's not because I didn't want to try them (everyone wants great results in minimal time), but I was afraid of how my hair would react to it and I'd just be throwing my money away. Ya'll know them Asian BSSs don't take back ANYTHING. I didn't wanna have to fight those folks after ya'll pumped me up over a product. :lachen:

I have saved a lot of money in 07 for not jumping on bandwagons. When I first joined, I flushed a lot of money down the toilet and lost a lot of hair jumping on every bandwagon.:ohwell: I now have my staples and until they stop working nothing is going to change.

Generally speaking, I'm not a bandwagon jumper. I find myself returning to basics and using the products that have worked for me for years. That said...I will take recommendations for products for a specific use (like the Lacio Lacio I just picked up for trying to rollerset my hair).

And I don't see certain challenges as bandwagon-jumping. I joined the Bootcamp 2008 challenge for a couple reasons: it's pretty much what I'm already doing with a few tweaks, and it will make me more mindful of how I treat my hair. And keep me from cutting it off little by little over the course of the year, which is why I had so little retention the last couple years. My hair is pretty healthy, but cutting it off bit by bit isn't going to help me to get to my goals.

Now I don't know if I answered the question or not. Ha!

i dont do product bandwagons at all, but i do like a good challenge, the only one im into so far is the waist length and general growth challenge, but im done with the HYH or product challenges ...:ohwell:

I still do the challenges- my siggy is challenge rediculous LOL (I'm still a newbie) but I don't jump on product bandwagons anymore. I did that twice, the first time I got too much breakage and the second time, I got sick. No more for me. LOL

Well I'm still a newbie & riding the waves. Even though it was a bandwagon, my new Ayurvedic routine is indeed a keeper. It was this bandwagon that helped me finally get a set routine that works for me. I'll admit that I'm a member of a few challenges, too...
Okay Miss OT, if I had hair like yours I'd be so over the bandwagons & challenges, too!

No longer doing product bandwagons-I do read the threads though:grin:.

I DO watch for new techniques.

Sticking with what first worked for me (Nioxin, Nizoral, ORS, cheapy conditioners for washing). The times I strayed, I had bad results or no results. Oh, except for oil rinsing:yep: and I remember picking up co-washing at naturallycurly.com a long time ago-I think that started as a bandwagon. Those were my only successful bandwagons on this journey.

I'm pretty much done except for the bandwagon's that have like 15 to 35 pages of replies.......now you know there must be something good going on with those.

The Aryuveda wagon is the last bandwagon I will ever jump on. This is the first regimen that actually gives good results every single time. My hair is finally in a good place. Now if I could only find what to do with the 399 products sitting on my closet shelves, lol. :lachen:

I've found what works for me so I don't need to jump on any band wagons. I do the length challenges (cos my hair is growing anyway) and lo mani. I don't get excited over any product...don't think I ever have actually. I do the "oh...that's interesting".

After wasting my money and jacking up my hair... hell to the no. Nothin was wrong with my hair before, I just thought that all those new threads started were like "secrets" that would make it "better." There are so many things that are so subjective that they shouldn't be passed off as "The Truth" or an "End all problems" kind of product.

I leave the bandwagons alone and just stick to the basics. It's sometimes fun to read about the next miracle product or method and hear how folks have gained 50-11 inches in one month :lachen:but seriously...:lachen:

They are great for newbies and others who want to experiment :look:

I am wanting to get on the ayurvedic bandwagon. Why? cause it is mostly natural plus its cheap, simple, and realistic.

I wonder how all of a sudden the Aryuvenda band wagon became so popular? A lot of us have been using these product for years. I know I've been using Amla oil and indian powders for almost 5 years.

I try not to keep jumping on bandwagons, but sometimes they actually help me find what my hair likes.

I am no longer on the product bandwagon. I will participate in a challenge that I think I can complete.

I came here with hair that was crumbling off my head and no regimen. If I just read the forum and never tried what others loved, I don't see how my hair would have improved. The "bandwagons" saved my hair.

I don't think I jump on bandwagons, and I don't think joining challenges is jumping on bandwagons. Since joining this board, I've been seeing reviews on different products and how they have worked for someones hair. Since I have yet to find out what really works for my hair, I will be trying these different products. There are some things I've seen on here though that I don't think I'll try such as the MN (I think that's it), and using the Indian products.

now that i pretty much have a routine of my own and redoing my regimine after trial and error I will just stick with it... no sense in me jumping on any bandwagons and no more running out to try different products due to rave reviews.

Now don't get me wrong... if I want to try something new... then I will but I don't want to do it off of impulse!

hehehe. We all have Candy C aka ayurveda junkie no 2 to thank for that!

She broke it down to us newbies. And now, I'm hooked. Your hair is great Dlewis, another reason i'm convinced this is the route for me. :)

Wouldn't this be a bandwagon? This bandwagon would be called the nonbandwagoners.

Either way your still classified.

This is the first year I'm actually doing ANY challenges, and I was never a bandwagon jumper, because I don't use mineral oil, cones, or a lot of products with glycerin already mixed in, or super strong smelling stuff - so that more or less PREVENTS me from jumping on bandwagons - I already KNOW the product won't work for my hair.... :lachen:

The Ayurvedic stuff is just clicking with me & where I am in my OVERALL life, and most of the challenges aren't really, because I do all the 'rules' anyhow (yeah, it's a bit of cheat, but stttiiiillll)

I think that once you know what you hair likes, as well as what your hair still NEEDS, your level of bandwagon jumping will naturally lower, because you can eliminate a grip of stuff off the top.

So, um, yeah, I'm not a bandwagon jumper, is what I'm saying, after all that.

Almost everything on this board goes in circles. And very rarely is anything "new". It's just new and popular to people just learing about it.
