This question isn't for me, but for my sis. She is starting the no heat/stretching relaxers/heavy moisture/low manipulation regimen about 2 mos ago. She is due for a relaxer and she is having her doubts. She wanted me to ask you ladies (since she isn't a member here, yet) if anyone did all the "right" things to your hair and it still didn't work?

By all the "right" things, I mean things such as stretching, moisturizing daily, low manipulation, and low heat.

I think for her, since she hasn't worn her hair down since she started this she is unable to see her results. You can't believe what you can see right? I can only pray that once she relaxes and straightens her hair she see the light.:)

Comments about this anyone?

I always think like this. I feel like I never see results but when I do comparison shots I can tell. I think it's the same senario as watching your child grow. You don't see the change because you look at that child everyday but when you look at pictures over time you can see the changes. Maybe because we see our hair everyday we don't see the changes but other people see it because they don't see you everyday.:)

That's what I am saying! She (and I sometimes) think "what if long hair IS really genetic, what if there is NOTHING that you can do?"

But what helps me is coming on to this forum. She hardly ever comes on here. I see other ladies hair go from point A to point B, and see that it is possible. She doesn't.

Keep the answers coming ladies. I can't wait until she reads this.

HAHA...if it ain't working, it obviously ain't "right".

I know that's saying the obvious - but when you think about it, it all kinda goes back to that whole "do you" conversation.

I was hardheaded when i first got on these boards - I refuse to do all the baggy methods and long washing routines and conditioner setting for 2 hours - I don't have time for all of that (and my slow hair growth for the first 4 months was the result). But it also forced me to find stuff that works for me and fits in MY lifestyle.

Whats the point of taking up a regimen you don't enjoy? HAHA...I love my hair, and I'd love to have waist length hair - but I'm not going to change my life to do so.

I'd start from scratch. What problems are you facing? Is your hair dry - does it dry out quickly after you apply moisture? Is it breaking? Are you not enjoying the styles you've taken up to help maintain growth?

And then work backwards. I realized my hair was drying out quickly - so I had to find products that saturated better, and ways of sealing in that moisture, without making my hair goopy.

Thank God this wasn't the case, but I didn't expect to keep any hair I'd grown before LHCF. That hair had been neglected, battered, and broken (literally). My focus was on making sure my new growth got the care it needed to survive on my head for 3 years+. Even tho that wasn't the case, I still believe people shouldn't start looking for progress for at least 6 months. I'd say she's a bit premature. Two months isn't long at all. But if she isn't experiencing excessive breakage, I'm sure she's made some progress and her next relaxer will tell all.

ETA: Make sure you level set her expectations. 2 months is 1 inch. If she didn't measure or take pics that will be hard to see.

I'd agree with Sareca, I mean after 2months...what would she expect to find? Just as she didn't damage her hair overnight, she can't expect to repair it overnight. And our tips wont make her hair grow any faster....it'll just help with retaining the hair that does grow. I think she'll be able to notice how even her ends have stayed, (after she relaxes). that is what made me happy and made me a believer. And after 8months or so, i noticed how thick and full my hair is, due to not loosing so much hair during abuse. But i'm one of the badgirls of LHCF because i wear my hair down everyday. tell her don't be scurrred...wear that hair down and be proud, it'll still grow!!!!!

I think it depends on the person's head of hair, but after two months she might not see a lot of length. Although I have seen great growth for some women in 2 months. Depending on the condition of her hair, if it was severly damaged or not, she'll probably see a significant change in the thickness and condition of her hair before she'll see length- that comes after. Just be consistent. You can do it sis!
