Anyone buy/subscribe to hair magazines? Which ones?

I was wondering if anyones hair obsession took them into buying magazines
I want to get some for style ideas, which ones do you buy?

I used to buy Sophisticates' Black Hair and Hype Hair all the time. I really didn't look the hairstyles in either of them, because most required weave and looked ET. Then it got to the point where both magzines had the same pictures of the same styles. I stopped buying them because I thought they were a waste of money and I could find better hair advice here. But I'd say that Hype Hair had more pictures of hairstyles than Sophisticates. I've also seen some really great hairstyles in Essence.

Oh Girl, You couldn't have asked a better question. I love hair magazines. I usually purchase HYPE HAIR or Sophisticate's Black Hair. They both are great and offer the latest hair styles. In my opinion, SBH offers more advice on how to take care of your hair and skin. On the other hand, HYPE HAIR has more pictures and how-to-guides on how to achieve particular hair styles. They both are great!!!!

at the bolded. Duh to me. I had a friend and we called these Eiffel Tower hairdo's

I used to buy Hype Hair and Sophisticates, but I stopped buy them because I did not care for the advice or any of the styles. I get way more information on forums than I ever did from those magazines.

All the hair mags I have ever looked at were lame. I wish there was a good one out their. LHCF should publish a hair mag it would be amazing!

I've been purchasing Sophisticate's Black Hair off and on since high school. However, I have been purchasing this magazine more regularly since I've started my hair journey back in December. I love that magazine. I love that they feature a variety of styles for relaxed heads and naturals. I also appreciate the articles on haircare. I find them very useful and helpful. Also, a lot of the information written about reflects a variety of topics discussed here.

I tried at one time or another all of them but I was left disappointed. Some of the hair styles were not practical without the use of added hair, heat, or products that wouldn't work for me, and some where just not practical at all.

And I also found them to be very lacking in substance. More advertising than actual content.

Just my 2 cents.

I've been purchasing Sophisticate's Black Hair Care since the early 90s. The quality of the advice has deteriorated over time, but there are still some gems in there and I love the magazine so I still buy it.

When I made my last move, I was going to throw out the older issues of my hair mags, but my mom took them and stored them knowing that I would want my mags later. Thank God for mothers.
