Now that I know that shampoos can be so drying...maybe even sulfate free ones..maybe I should not use them at all.

I was thinking if I vigorously scrub my scalp, douse with HOT water and make sure my scalp is clean...(can I get it itch free without soap?), that it would be so much better for my hair. I think all of the old product will mostly run off of my hair and if some oil stays on so much the better. What do you all think?

you know, i havent used shampoo in about three months. i think my hair is better off without it. if i wanted to clarify, i could use apple cider vinegar, or something else.

I only use Neutralizing shampoo and a moisturizing one after I relax my hair now. Other than that, I just co-wash and DC now.:look:

I haven't used shampoo in about 5 months and switched to shampoo bars. Haven't turned back since.

I don't use shampoo at all and haven't for about a year. I used to use castille soap but it was too drying for my hair. Lots of other people love it though. If you use it make sure to dilute it with water (and a little oil too).

Now I use baking soda mixed with water; about a palmful to 16oz of water, you should start with less though and work your way up. I use a water bottle with a nozzle so that I can squirt it directly on my scalp. Rub that around and pour the rest over my head and rinse out. Makes my hair clean, gets rid of all the build up, and it's super cheap.

The last time I used shampoo was when I used my sample size of Hairveda's shampoo. It was one of the better shampoos I have tried, but I probably won't be buying it because I just don't use shampoo.

I use very diluted castile soap (sometimes I add stuff to it) and I also use my Alma rinse on occasion. Baking soda and water are also good.

I use the indian tea rinses or when I am too lazy to make it use the shakakai bar....Been doing this for a while. It was the diluted Castille soap before that.

it has probably been a year since the last time i used shampoo
i always use conditioner but am thinking of trying the baking soda thing

for the most part i don't... except on relaxer day... when i feel the need for shampoo it's very, very, very diluted- which believe it or not still suds up... go figure

I only use (sulfate free) shampoo on my weave, not my real hair. I cleanse with Ayurvedic powders like Shikakai. I clarify when I remember with Products of the Earth ACV rinse.

I have not used a SLS shampoo since 2004. I was adding Olive oil anyway - from like 2003.... But I have avoided them for years.
I finally dashed them....
I also used to use CON - Diluted and with oil.... And dashed that a couple of years ago. There is a Giant Bottle in the Shower.... DH does not even use it...So - why is it there???:look:

Now I used Diluted Castile - with oil.... Only because - every now & then - I use Sabino Moisture Block.

I am probably going to dash that soon for Indian powders. :yep:
I also use Baking Soda to Clarify. I don't like how ACV feels - so I don't use that much.

I don't. Haven't since September of last year. I use WEN Cleansing Conditioner.

I only use Shampoo when I get a touch up.

I don't use shampoo unless I go for a color touch up and that is like 2 times a year! I have been off of using shampoo for about 2 years slowly weaning myself off it. I have found that my hair grows faster and feel healthier along with all the deep conditioning I do.

I may try the castile soap but it would have to be diluted and with evo.

i just recently stopped using shampoo. i use all cone-less products now so it isn't necessary. when i need a good clarification i dilute baking soda with water in an appicator bottle clean away! lol

I'm using ayurvedic paste and starting to tea rinsing again. I co-wash and plan on using ACV rinse to clarify. My goal is to only use shampoo during my relaxer.

I'm now using a shikakai tea rinse on wash days, and that's been working really well for me, scalp is clean, no itching. I use bentonite clay or baking soda to clarify once a month.. and maybe once a month or slightly less frequently, I'll use a non sulfate shampoo / dilute sulfate shampoo ... I don't think I could ever eliminate shampoo completely... I just wouldn't feel that I'm keeping bacteria or fungal growth in check otherwise.
