Sorry if it's been said before . I only glanced through the thread.

This is the method that Cathy Howse uses's that she claims has added to her growth regimen.

Cathy Howse the one that wrote the book and has the products called Ultra Black Hair .

Just my 2 pennies :look:

I used to when I was in junior high. It worked for the look I was trying to accomplish most of the time.

^^That big jumbo curling iron in the pic is exactly what i have. Mine is gold also..think its made by "Solid Gold"..had it for years, heats up in 60 seconds and offered a good press AND curl. Only problem is that the longer I stretch, it just aint hot enough..

I need to sell my flat iron. Any recs for a jumbo curling iron that's just as hot as a flat iron?

I stretched my last relaxer for 6 months and was able to get my hair strait with my 20$ curling iron. It was ceramic, I think. My key to getting a good press n curl is detangling it well before I attempted a CI press. It worked well for me. I also blow dried my hair first. I am learning how to use my flat iron and it works good, but not as good as my curling iron.:yep:

This is what I do and maybe its my flat iron but it dries my hair out WAAAAAAAAY more than my Hot Tools Ceramic curling iron. In fact I'm going home tonight to redo my hair AGAIN because I keep thinking the flat iron will work and it just doesn't. I'm throwing that thing out! :wallbash:

did this in Nigeria after i blew out my flat iron in the sockets. i used a 1 inch curler to get to my roots. I'm natural, i couldn't just readily find another flat iron there, so I did what i could to not look crazy with the two textures (i had weave in then). It looked just OKAY but since I was out of the country, I did it and kept it moving. Can't do the same here in the U.S. though...

I used to do this back in the day before I got hip to the flat iron. I used a gold & hot 1" curling iron. I like the slight bump under the flat iron gives more then the curl the iron gives.

I did this when I was relaxed. Flat irons hardly work on me as a natural so I doubt a curling iron would do the trick.

No I don't do it but my mom used to with the stove top tongs and it resulted in a velvety smooth finish.

Pre LHCF I'd wash, blowdry and straighten with a curling iron and curl during....
That's how I was introduced to the idea that I really didn't NEED a perm.

Glad you liked it!

I love using a curling iron. If you try and curl with a flat iron the curls just don't look right to me. They're too square at the end if you know what I mean. I like to air dry then just use the curling iron like a flat iron and you get a nice curve all the way down the hair. The curling iron should be very shiny and smooth or ceramic though.

I don't straighten the length of my hair....but I use my curling iron to lightly straighten my roots with no probs.
