Anybody a Tamanu Oil Fan?

I wondered if anyone has used this oil for a sustained period, say 3 months or longer, and HOW you have used it.

I've found it to be "interesting" because it has many of the properties of rose mosqueta, but is much richer. Both are fairly expensive.

I picked some up a while ago online and have been using it on my ends instead of jojoba most recently. It's very buttery and smooth. It smells like butterscotch.

Any comments are much appreciated.

Cheers,

Jade

Hi Jade,

I never heard of that oil but do know that the Rosa Mosquita oil did wonders for some marks that were on my face...there gone! Does this oil works in that way also?

I've been thinking of getting some rosehip seed oil but I've never heard of tamanu oil. Where did you get it form? I'd love to read more about it...and possibly order it.

from my research, tamaru oil is from tahiti, where its powers seem nothing short of miraculous. It seems to have the properties of rosehip seed oil, and then some! It also seems a bit expensive (in terms of it being a carrier, base oil) for about $18 -$2- US for 30 ml. The inhibatitants of tahiti use it for hair, skin disorders, body odors and the like. It seems to be easily absorbed with a nutty odor.

you said that tamanu oil is from tahiti. I also think that the Tahitians make this Noni juice that is supposed to be great for your health also. I've heard miraculous stories from this juice. Good health, great hair. I think that the Tahitians may be on to something.

I just started using palma rosa oil(rosa etc) in a pre scalp treatment. My scalp does feel great. Between the pre scalp treatment and peppermint in the Cathy Howse conditioner my scalp is getting a real treat.

Lady Quinny is saying I am not sharing, and yet she sent me to the site /images/graemlins/grin.gif That site is Snowdrift Farm I think it had one of the best prices for the smaller size. The stuff is a bit pricey /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Canuck provided great background info and there is tons of stuff on the web. Just do a Google search and you will find more than you ever wanted to know.

One of the things that worried me about tamanu was that there were several references to skin reactions. I think that if I try it for my scalp, like in a hot oil treatment mixed with something else, I am going to do a small spot on my scalp first to see how I react.

Cheers,

Jade
