I just want to get an idea of how many ladies self relax or is this a big no-no.

There are lots of self relaxers here. You could do a search, but I couldn't tell you which subject to search for.

I self relax and everything else. I really prefer to, If I mess up then it's on me. My only problem is that my hair is getting longer and it's harder for me to trim my own ends.

I used to self-relax all of the time. My last touch up was at the hair dresser. I am thinking about going back to self relaxing, using lye (Elasta QP) so if I underprocess I can correct.

As long as you follow the directions and try not to overlap you should not have a problem

I've self-relaxed for the past year. I don't trust stylists and have learned to do so myself.

As my hair grows longer, it gets harder to do the back of my head!

However, it is easier since I have been stretching out my touchups!

I do it myself.. my mom did it when I was younger.. my hair is really easy to relax.. Actually, now from what I have been reading.. I don't think my mom really needed to relax my hair.. I think she just thought it would be easier if she did because she did the same to her hair.. I'm gonna ask her the next time I talk to her..

So Elasta QP makes a lye relaxer

nice to know. Can it be purchased at sally's? I'm trying to decide on which one to use for my next touchup.

I don't recall ever seeing it at Sallys. I got it from a local Asian BSS. I will be doing a touch up in a couple of weeks so I'll let you know how I like it.
