Any relaxed ladies have new relaxing techniques?

I'll FINALLY be ready for my touchup in about a month. This will be my first touchup since I've started my healthy hair journey so this one is very important. I've learned a lot of new ideas and techniques for relaxing such as adding a little oil to the mixture. I'd like to know if any relaxed ladies have found new techniques for making the process less damaging to my previously relaxed hair and making it go smoother. Thanks in advance!!

Ooo, this has become one of my favorite subjects. I can tell you what I'm planning to do, but I haven't done it yet. My next relaxer isn't until Nov.

Normally I just:
Part my hair into quarters
Apply the relaxer in no particular order
Rinse
Neutralize as thousand times
Condition w/ moisture

Now I'm planning to:
Part my hair into 6 section
Add a tsp of Aphogee concentrationed EFA to the relaxer
Apply relaxer to crown, then back, then front
Rinse
Condition with Affirm's Fiberguard (5 minutes)
Neutralize leaving the poo for 5 minutes between washes
Deep condition with protein probably Aveda
Rinse with ACV

I'm wanting to use Aphogee EFA, where can I find this??

I've also considered using an ACV rinse to help return hair to natural PH but wondered if that would cause reversion?

I haven't got it yet but I found this place (http://www.hairplus.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=Hairplus&Product_Code=133029). I'm going to call and place my order tho. They are having some kind of certificate mismatch that I'm not happy about on their shopping cart.

Oh, I actually did do the ACV rinse the last time I relaxed. I was sooo sick of trying to get the lather to be white I grabbed some ACV, heavily diluted it, and poured it over my head. That certainly did the trick (laughs evilly). My hair didn't get as straight as I wanted but I don't think that was because of the ACV. My last strand test didn't get that straight either and I didn't do the ACV rinse. I actually think it had more to do w/ Phyto having different PH's from batch to batch. But I digress.

Thanks! I haven't been able to find this product on other online BSS. I might have to skip on the ACV rinse this time because I might be darkening my hair with my next touchup. I will definitely take my time to protect my previously relaxed hair before I have my touchup done. I am also considering slathering on some conditioner to my previously relaxed hair RIGHT before I rinse out my relaxer to protect it while the relaxer is running off my hair. I'm wondering if grease will work better.

I will be watching this thread closely:sekret: . I plan to self relax some time next month :).

Keep the techniques coming...

I just relaxed today and what I did differently was section my hair before applying the relaxer. I used to do it all at the same time (section, then apply, section, apply). The only reason I did this was because my newgrowth was super thick and I didn't want to waste time trying to get thru it while applying and risking over processing. Made the process go alot quicker. All I had to do was separate the already sectioned hair and apply.

Did you clamp or otherwise secure each section, Honi? I know some use rubber bands or hair clips to separate. I think this is the ideal 1st try method for me.

You are correct but I don't keep them in after I apply the relaxer. I remove them from the section BEFORE I apply it.

Those clips are metal. You're not supposed to use metal supplies when relaxing.... :look:

I use ACV the next day after a relaxer and it did not revert the relaxer. My hair is still very straight and I have used the ACV a few times already.

So I'm not applying the relaxer to my hairline anymore since some moisturizer, water, and a satin scarf at night will help those bad boys stay in place. However, my nape area is a different story. I really want it to grow and I know that it only breaks off really short when I relax it, but I can't imagine just leaving it natural since it won't blend with my hair. So I'm thinking about textlaxing it. I'll take a little relaxer cream on the side and add some extra oil to it and slap that on the nape area right before I go to rinse my hair out. I just want to slightly loosen the curl. When I came up with this idea I also came across another one. Since my hair in the front straightens easily, perhaps I should weaken the relaxer for just that area. No reason in using the same strength relaxer on two different textures of hair. Anyone ever try something similar?
