I do not use a moisturizer on my hair everyday and if I'm wearing it down I don't use one at all because I don't like my hair to get limp and oily.

I used to use heat on my hair once a week *blow-dryer and ceramic curling iron* and I plan on going back to that.

Yet, my hair was/is by all accounts healthy and growing.

Secondly, things like airdrying just seems to lead to breakage for me.

Am I the only odd ball...

Well I am trying to break the habit. **blast Cathy Howse  ** I don't think my hair needs to be moisturized everyday, especially those first couple of days after washing. I think a moistuirizing conditioner does a good enough job :)
NTM Serum :D is all I need when I wear my hair down

Dana, NTM Serum is the bomb, I don't count that as a moisturizer though.

Candi, yup that counts...I know that some people moisturize their hair everyday or everynight and to me that would just lead to breakouts and limp greasy hair.

I can relate because I don't like my hair to be weighed down. I love when it is light as a feather and has alot of movement. When I oil my hair more than just once after I wash it it ends of losing its swing over time.

I guess I have become an oddball as well...I rollerset my hair most of the time so I dont use a moisturizer everyday. My moisturizing conditioner does a really good job. The only time I really use moisturizer is when it gets close to touch up time ;)

I think I'm an oddball too. I don't moisturize my hair daily and when I do, I use palmer's coca butter lotion...also oil (but that doesn't really count as a moisturizer).

My hair also breaks from the baggie method although it makes most folks hair flourish.

I am a ODD BALL I have been wearing my hair down for about 5 weeks now and I haven't put any oil or moisturizer in it b/c my hair will get so thick and heavy with any type of oil does anyone have any suggestions

Try the NTM Serum! It's great, it gives your hair shine and softness, but won't weigh your hair down. :)

I experience this same result when I use my castor oil with sandlewood essential oil added to it.

Another oddball. I do not moisturize other than by washing my hair. My hair and scalp seem to agree with this method. (instead of the kickboxing they do otherwise).

I also like to use heat in the form of a hooded dryer every week. It helps my hair absorb the conditioner better, rather than it just sitting on top of my hair.

Nope, your not the only odd ball :-)

My hair just doesn't agree with Air Drying ,but, heat seems to agree with it strange I know.

What made you decide to go back to blow-drying and hot curling weekly, Ms.K? Tired of rollersetting?

I have found that rollersetting my hair seems to help my hair to maintain moisture, especially if I dont bog it down with a whole bunch of products. If I just use a leave in when I rollerset my hair, I dont seem to need to moisturize my hair EVERYDAY maybe just once that week if at all. Also my hair doesnt particularly look great after airdrying. Now it likes when I wear a bun for a day or so but after that it starts to look tired and I just rollerset it. My hair is happiest this way!

Trying to be cute  Not that I mind rollersetting, but with the way my layers are right now, unless I rollerset and do a blow-out or do the curly rollerset look, my hair doesn't lay right. I have more control if I use the blow-dryer/hot curler because I know how to work with them. Also, thinking about how my hair looked when I used them last year makes me think that it shouldn't adversely affect my hair. :) My downfall was SHS not necessarily heating appliances.

Hey Msk!

It's all about what works for your hair. No one lives with your hair but you, and you know what you can tolerate. I use moisturizers, but not a large amount and not more than once a day. I use heat sometimes, not often, but I will treat myself to a blowout and sometimes I flat iron or , heck, blowdry when i don't have time to airdry or want to straighter effect.

You're not odd. But I do think the no heat, protective styling methods work. They just work better on some than others. Everything in moderation, I say.

I understand you completely! :-)

Hey there Ms. Kenesha...looking good!

This sounds EXACTLY like me. I too, cannot put moisturizer on my hair when I'm wearing it down. It ends up looking stringy and dirty.

I hate airdrying. ('nuf said).

I also rollerset every week (sometimes twice a week), flat iron my roots, wrap nightly and wear it down until the next wash. My hair is healthy and free of split ends/breakage.
