Hi ladies, I am trying to keep natural and gain as much hair growth until Dec. It gets very cold in Mich, so I know I cant wear gel for too long. Anyone else stretching the gel????

Just be careful.I straightened a small section 2 months ago and now it is permanent,I really wanted to get it pressed on Christmas but i have to decide if i want it to stay that way...This shocked me because when I was relaxed the flat iron could not keep my hair straight but now I have heat damage.

I'm still not sure if I will or if I even want too - sheer laziness. I will be natural 1 year on December 6, 2008, so I may show some pics of my progress

I got a flat iron for Christmas last year, and still haven't used it. So I promised myself I'd give it a whirl this year for Christmas. I purchased some heat protectant last week, and sat it on my dresser to heighten the anticipation.:lachen:

I've pushed mine to next summer. I want to make sure I'll be MBL by the time I straighten...

No joke! Goodness, went to my Aunt's funeral back in January this year....OMG! It was 20 INSIDE the restaurant. They couldn't keep it warm enough. We hit that blizzard that came up from Ann Arbor....anyhoo...taking a breath cuz I'll never forget that bonechilling Ice Age cold of MI...

My daughter's hair is natural. Can you still gel it and use a diffuser dryer? We have Hot Tools diffuser. Would changing the type of gel (to an oilier one) make a difference?

I hope to be full SL by december but I won't straighten until I get my FHI which probably will be next year. If I get after the winter is over than I will have to wait until the end of next year to straighten b/c a press don't last in summer heat.

I'm going to straighten in Dec. in time for my birthday and Christmas! I really hope to see some progress!!!

I need a major trim (its been over a year)...which means I'll be straightening at the end of the week, when I go to the salon.

Me too! I'm waiting for my annual Christmas party to flat iron my hair. I'm going to use Sabino moisture block and either a CHI or FHI iron. It'll be my first all around press since going natural.

My chop anniversary is NYE...I may straighten for New Years or get a twisted updo style...depends on how I feel. The earliest I anticipate straightening is Thanksgiving.
