Any nexxus/Aveda fans fans?

I would like to experiment with some nexxus and aveda products. Are there any 4a/b's who have success with them? Any recommendations?

A lot of people like Nexxus Humectress, Keraphix and Emergencee. I use the Botanoil shampoo as a 1st Lather shampoo.

I really like Nexxus Therappe shampoo and Humectress conditioner. Most ppl here reccomend the Botanoil shampoo but I got them together as a set for a good deal and was pleasantly suprised. A lot of others have also reccommended the Ensure conditioner and the keraphix as well as Emergencee (for damage/breakage). Hope that helps! Im not sure about Aveda, I havent tried any of there products....**amazed at myself that there ARE products out there I have yet to try**....lol. Im a PJ to the fullest extent of the law....

Humectress - excellent conditioner, no need to detangle my hair after using this

Headress - fantastic leave in, I just love it

Keraphix - mild protein treatment that works really well, one of the best I have used so far

Have not tried any Aveda products though.

i like the aveda elixir - i usually use this with a little castor oil.

i liked the sap moss conditioner in terms of it's moisture, but it smells like soil.

for shine i use aveda's brilliant pomade. i like the humectant, but the smell (geranium) is a bit strong.

I have 4b relaxed and have been using nexxus for over 10 years and LOVE it -- I experiment with other stuff all the time, but I keep coming back. I have 4 nexxus items that are staples and I don't go with them (therappe, humectress, headdress & emergencee):

Therappe: excellent moisturizing shampoo hands down -- so good that I don't even experiment with shampoos anymore. This is my all time HOLY GRAIL and a staple in my bathroom.

Humectress: another winner. As a rinse out, it provides deep moisture without weighing hair down. I tried using as leave-in, but I found it too heavy for my taste. It IS my current holy grail conditioner and although I stray often, I've been coming back to nexxus for the last 10 years or so. Another reliable staple -- just haven't found a conditioner to beat this one yet and not for lack of trying. . .

Headress: excellent volumizer, moisturizer and heat protectant. Leaves hair bouncy, light and fresh. Love it. I do stray often as well, but always come back.

Emergencee: THE BEST hard core protein in the world. I use about once a month followed humectress. AWESOME DUO. I always use for the wash immediately before and after relaxer to help add strength.

ENSURE: a low ph condition that I like as a final rinse to close cuticles. It is very very light, not at all moisturizing, but great for closing cuticles after conditioning. Not really a staple because ACV accomplishes same thing, IMO.

Keraphix: excellent soft core protein conditioner, but I found other less expensive (like AO GPB) does the same thing. It's good, but not a staple for me.

Botanoil: very good shampoo; however, I found therappe to be far far superior.

Botanic Oil: I have a bottle of this for about 2 years because only need like a drop for my ends -- it's loaded with EFAs to help restore and retain moisture in dry hair. Definately less is more.


Assure: did nothing for my hair -- was actually a bit drying.

Aloe Rid: hated this "swimmer shampoo" because completely stripped my hair.

Vita-Tress line: didn't really like these products which are suppose to help plump up "fine" hair - I found them a bit too drying, not bad but my staples (therappe, humectress, headdress) gave me superior results.

As you can see, I've tried almost the entire line!

I have 4b relaxed hair. Hope this helps . . .

I haven't tried all things Nexxus or Aveda, but from what I have I've been devoted to Nexxus Therappe Poo and Humectress. I like Keraphix too, but have too many products... so I don't use it as often as I used to. I used to use Botanic Oil faithfully too, but now I have so many oils that I can't choose these days. It's taken a backseat.

Aveda Brilliant Universal Styling Cream is on of my favorite finishing products. It leaves me w/great sheen.

Sap Moss Poo-- it's an okay. I don't particularly care for the smell.

Deep Revitalizing something conditioner is really good. Smells musky, but it's good for the hair. I would recommend it.

I use the Biotin Shampoo, Botanoil Shampoo, Humectress, Botanoil oil and Keraphix. I just love Nexxus products.

. I see many people like the Therrape, humectress and headdress I think i will try those 3 first. I'll stay away from protein treatments since all protein makes my hair crispy and im not really experiencing breakage/damage at the moment.

Ananas and sensingchick: Do aveda products really smell that bad? As expensive as Aveda is you think they would at least smell nice.

I like Nexxus Diametress luscious hair thickening shampoo.

It's a a really thick, golden yellow shampoo which produces clear white bubbles. You leave the shampoo on for 3 minutes and then rinse.

It leave my hair feeling soft, full and thick. It has Panthenol (Vitamin B-5) in it, as well as vegetable ceramides and protein.

Neroli, thanks for the reviews on the other products...looks like I found the winning combo with the Therappe and Humectress. no need to spend money on testing the others if its these are better. I really like them a lot, its just u know how it is...u always think there *might* be something even better...lol

I'm 3c/4a relaxed, and Therappe, Humectress, and Keraphix are BOMB! I have yet to try the Headress, and I don't think I'll ever try the Emergencee because it's too pricy for me ($15 for 2 oz? you gotta be kiddin!)

I also have some Nexxus PhytoOrganics products, (Enphuse, Hydruss, Nectaress) but I haven't tried them yet.

I've never tried Aveda.

the Aveda Elixir Leave on Conditioner: It smoothes right on into my hair shaft and leaves my hair moist feeling for days. The smell isn't too strong for me, which I like. It feels almost like a gel going in/on, but dries to a VERY soft finish.

Aveda Deep Penetrating Hair Revitalizer: Thick as all get out, penetrating like whoa!

While rinsing it out, I could feel the good stuff staying in and the bad stuff rinsing out.

I felt like a chick on the Herbal Essences commercials.

Guyfriend: "Where's my t-shirt, hunny?"
Me: "In the dresser, next to your loin cloth."

Whew, I'm too crazy for me.

Give Aveda the old college try.

I also love the Aveda Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade to seal in the moisture after my (leave-in)and prevent outside humidity from reverting my hair too much. It smells good too.

I got a free sample of the shampure the last time I was at Aveda. I'll PM you with my results when I use it.

ETA: I wouldn't suggest buying Aveda from drugstores, grocery stores, non-hair salon retailers.

I've found that the product quality, freshness, and overall effectiveness of the product is best straight from the (usually more expensive) source.

I don't hear too much of it on the boards, but I love AVEDA Curressence shampoo. It's a great detangler, and easily glides through my thick hair, gently clensing it.

Aveda Elixir is the only conditioner that I have found that I truly feel works on my natural 4b hair. I can't compare it to Kenra or Elucence, but I do like it a lot..
