I'm about 4 years post relaxer - for the last couple of years, I have simply kept it weaved up. Can anyone recommend, a good regime for wearing straight, thinking about flat-iron but also reviewing some curly products. My regular stylist is out of town for a couple of weeks, and I don't trust anyone else there with my hair...I'm afraid they will talk me into a relaxer..:nono:

Are you trying to figure out how to straighten it yourself? Or are you asking about aftercare?

BTW...i'm diggin your siggy! Channing is SO fine!:infatuated:

Kinda both, going to be de-weaving...but want to make sure I keep hair protected...and being less dependent on my stylist being around:lol: I've been taking care of hair under the weave so have some good growth that I want to protect

SmilingElephant - love that high bun look too...

Hey Thanks!:D

Lemme tell ya....there is NOTHING better than being DIY!!! Let me see if i can find this video for you...it helped me on my last flat iron...hol up...

Okay here it is Straightening My Natural hair

I basically did the same thing as her...only i used an actual heat protectant instead of grapeseed oil.

I also blowdried my hair using the tension method...it worked PERFECTLY! My hair got really straight just from blowdrying...but i twisted it up (i have pics up in my album on how those twists looked)..as i went.

Then when i flat ironed i simply went twist by twist, starting from the back...unraveled each twist and flat ironed each strand using the comb chase method....Kinky Kurly Queen is using very small sections...but just using the sections of the twists was just fine for me and went by faster....flat ironing by itself took like 45 minutes for me.

I did not add more heat protectant after blowdrying...i went straight to flat ironing...and i didn't get any damage.

What's been working for me is:
Wash
rinse out conditioner/detangle
Deep Condition *very important*
Rollerset
When rollerset dries, flatiron @340 degrees w/Sedu first 2/3 inches only (the rest is pretty much straight from the rollerset) using chi silk infusion
coconut oil when done
wrap
